Following on from a conversaion my OH was having with her friend about the imminent birth of her first born. The friend's husband has found out that if her waters were to break in Asda they'll get a year's worth of nappies. In Tesco it's free babyfood, M&S give you a hamper.
So, fom an MSE point of view, who gives you the best freebies if you start to give birth in their place of business? :T

My waters broke at 1am and my DH woke to me spreading towels all over the floor to protect the carpet we'd had flitted the day before! :rotfl:0 -
Reminds me of when I started getting contractions (turned out to only be Braxton Hicks) in town outside a really grubby discount clothing warehouse.
My OH threatened to drag me up the road to M&S if I went into actual labour  :rotfl:"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye" - Miss Piggy0 -

My mum's broke with me at the top of the steps down to a tube station...it got her a free taxi ride to hospital thanks to a kindly cabbie who was passing. Mine broke on the sofa, so I leapt up and soaked the carpet too( meconium stained as well.....lovely!):o0

Mine broke in the middle of the night in bed... I went to powerhouse whilst in Labour to buy batteries for my little cd player because the hospital wouldn't let me plug it in... They didn't offer me any freebies and I got the distinct impression they were trying to speed up my sale...
On the whole shops and freebies thing, I think it's somewhat of an urban legend... Might pop over to snopes to research...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Think it depends on the manager of the store you're at, I've worked at the same place for 9 years (never had it happen yet though) and only about half the managers would of done anything (good publicity cause you'd prob end up in local paper too!) the other half where just too tight to spend the money!!!!
You'd of got a phone call though and possibly a bunch of flowers0
