Argh, I'm having issues with the site, although it may be my browser....hmmm, need a techno-bod.
Well, sis's birthday tea has gone off without a hitch, YAY! and now I have some quiet time before Big Bang Theory. I'm reading The Thrift Book by India Knight. Just finished that 'How to Live on a Pound a Day' which was interesting. Kinda doing the rounds on the thrifty-ness books before New Year (can you guess my resolution?)
On the flying front, the house has remained remarkable intact considering both siblings have been over, even lost some stuff (well, its been 'borrowed') so that's kinda decluttering. Printed off Chrimbo card list and have almost completed my chrimbo shopping, just the bits we have to leave to closer to the time. Now MARRIED!11/09/100 -
I keep having probs with the site tonight, it keeps showing a blank page. Just click refresh and see what happens lol. Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.0

I know, I feel like the prodigal son but this has been on my heart for weeks now and I'm going to post it anyway.
I don't remember when I wrote my first flylady post, but I do remember that I was a heavy smoker and spent all my time indoors in my pj's. My two year old son was entertained by the most meager tasks I could muster from my tired imagination. My fiance would work all day then come home, do last nights dishes cook the supper and get the washing organised.
I had all the time in the world to sit and surf the net because I couldnt see myself been good for much else.
Now my house can't get any better than it is without us moving into a new one, I haven't had a cigarette in whats it been? Six weeks? I stopped keeping tabs when I stopped craving:) My christmas shopping is almost done and Im hosting a party on Friday:D A cookie swap party, it is in my home that a number of people will gather to welcome the festive season...This time last year I didn't know even a few people to have by for coffee (if I could hide my shame long enough to invite them in). In the last few weeks I've found I've not had much to do inside my home and so I joined the NCT. I have had my little boy at playgroups galore, I have taken him swimming-and he runs around the house pretending to be the bus driver.
I am living a life now, so much so that I find I have very little time to keep up with the very people who taught me how to do that. If someone had told me a year ago that it would be through the internet that this would happen I would have cried liar. All of you have given something to my life, and I feel like I owe you something more-even just more of my time. So to all of you who have contributed to who I am today, I thank you. Please forgive me for not being here everyday-or even every week. And I know that you will always be welcoming when I look in on you when I can:A , but I really want to find myself a new challenge to master, but please dont forget to PM when the flylady meet happens in London-because you know that will happen long before any wedding invitations arrive at your doorsteps;)0 -

Evening.
OJK loved your comments on toddlers. That would be why my DS1 wanted my cheese sarnie at lunchtime when he was supposed to be eating his shepherds pie. I will have to learn to eat quicker for when DS2 gets old enough to ask.
lil-me your comments on the boys running round starkers eating ice lollies made me chuckle. No wonder your gas bill is big if it is warm enough to do that. DS1 while i am changing his bum will hold it in the air and go 'its cold'. Before any of you think i'm cruel, it's 18deg, and he was doing this in summer too.
moam the vouchers got here today. Thank you again. I realised i should have told you my surname too :rotfl: .
Not a lot else to say, the boys have been driving me bonkers. DS2 is sitting up and can reach DS1's toys, his solution was to go 'no sammy, stoppit' and snatch it from him, so he would lean over and grab something else. I always thought 2 so close in age would mean not many little bits for the second one to choke on, but i didn't realise chunky crayons, jigsaw pieces, books etc etc would be so appealing and not suitable. The only thing i dare let him grab is the building blocks.
Both were in bed early. DS2 at 6:45, DS1 at 7:30 as he had a late nap. I have only had to cook rice for dinner as i made the cowboy hash yesterday. Lots of lentils in there to bulk it out a bit. I need to do something tonight but i can't be faffed. My options are:
1) wash my hair - put off this because it involves having wet hair for bed and it is COLD!!!
2) do some ironing - put off this as it requires standing
3) do some wrapping - my book people order arrived today, and i could do this sat down with a free glass of wine (gifted to me by my sister via my parents as they don't like red)
4) do nothing and go to bed.
I will start 3 at least - 15 mins max, which means i'll probably spend an hour and do it all.
sarah sh have you tried pearl barley? Only 30p for a 500g bag compared to 86p for red lentils. I'm on a budget too you know :rotfl: .Or soup mix, which was somewhere between 50-60p. The pearl barley says it is for use as a thickener in soups/stews/casseroles. I haven't had it in a few years, but i have some pork for a SC casserole tomorrow, so i plan on lobbing some in. Will let you know how it goes, although my 2 boys will pretty much eat anything i give them, and DH who claims he doesn't like lentils is now used to them too by me adding them in gradually over time. When we had lasagna with none in it was far too rich for us in the summer.
the lady who asked about teachers presents, i'm sorry, i can't remember who - it isn't a competition. I have had a mix of expensive and cheap stuff, and all has been appreciated and mostly kept. The stuff i didn't really want was a bottle of bubble bath with glitter in, the beautiful vase that a careless girl managed to smash on the way to school, and that is about it. I prefer something i can use or eat so i don't end up with more clutter, so chocs/wine/flowers/biscuits/toiletries are fine. I've had keyrings/mugs before that i have loved as they said best teacher on, but honestly they are cheap tut that costs the kid/parent a lot, and break very easily. You can get some lovely bunches of flowers for only a couple of quid, or a small plant.
That actually haas made me think, as i haven't been around much at xmas, easter and summer hols over the past few years, i haven't been as overwhelmed with toiletries, although i still have 2 large boxes under my bed and loads out in the bathroom - does it breed?
I think i had another thought there but it has now gone - right, off to do the present wrapping. See you all tomorrow. Hopefully whatever this is will then have shifted so i can have some motivation. Actually, i've eaten a lot of choccies this week, maybe that?0 -
