Ooh I had a text that I quite liked...
A couple were discussing the possibility of experimenting sexually. Wifey said to hubby 'Well...we COULD try the missionary position.' Hubby, somewhat puzzled, said 'Why? What's that?' Wifey replied 'Well, you go to Africa...'Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I'm having a bit of a debate with myself about teacher gifts, especially for DS1. He is in a class with a teacher and 2 LSAs who split the weeks work between them, he has seperate PE teacher, swimming teacher, caretaker he does gardening with, I think there are more. Then there is the secretary who he adores and his HT who is fab. Then of course his escorts who I will buy seperate for who treat him every week, actually no, they spoil him completely! I just can't afford to buy for everyone who's been a part of his life in such a big way really. What I am thinking of doing instead, is giving a large biscuit/chocolate box for the staff room and a donation towards their latest fundraiser for a new minibus. I remember one year being desperately skint and keeping my son off on the last day to save my embarrassment of going in empty handed
every other parent was discussing how much they spent and what they bought, I just couldn't face it. DS2, I have less of an 'issue' with as there is his teacher and LSA at the mo, which shouldn't be too bad, they're both young teachers (DS2s teacher is 27 and his LSA is 22 I think) so bit unsure what to buy......
Right, one ledge clear, one to go, then we're all BOXED! I'm stunned how much was in here and I didn't really notice, it's a pretty big room however so maybe why. Food cooking, I am soooooo hungyry now! Got UKTV food+1 on which doesn't help!
Sorry-Im going, Lil_Me had to comment...box of biscuits or chocolates (twinks hobnobs went down really well at playgroup today) and make a snowman soup for each individual. There are some lovely labels with the poem on the organised christmas website. Im doing this for all of DF's family. We are coming up for grandads birthday on 21st December but coming back to London to spend christmas with my brother. The family is too big to buy individually so we are buying for the children only...tradition is that the family opens gifts under grandads tree christmas morning so we are leaving the ss packages with him so they can all have snowman soup and hobnobs with their pressies. Im making giftbags for this purpose (PM if you want me to send you templates) but you could get DS involved by buying plain white mugs (£2 for 4 from asda) and having him hand paint them before you fill them.0 -

lil_me - I agree. Biscuits / choccies in the staffroom always go down well; you wouldn't believe how much that improves the mood!!!! And I'd hate to think that parents are stressing about this. I have 3 TAs in my class and we certainly don't expect something for each of us - it gets very expensive and we know how many different people are involved in the lives of our pupils.
