Children who appear after bedtime or make excuses, I call them yoyos, some call them lap warmers/lurkers etc. I have 2 of those yoyos, however one doesn't really sleep well anyway so doesn't count as much

**hugs** for AnW'sMum. Hope A has a lovely time!

Oh heck, Megan's eating her hair, I know what this means, she feels sick, we figured it the first time she did it, she does it when she can't access grass, can see me having to stay up until DP gets in.
One day I might be more organised...........

Ooh I am having some major probs tonight - saved loads to comment on BUT off they went into the ether...

Have flown because I pegged out 2 washloads this morning (before work) and my mum brought them in and they are now ironed and airing...greatstart to the weekend.

Polkadot that was a lovely thing to say...so now you are flying off into the real world...lovely to hear that your lifestyle now is making YOU much happier...and that DS and OH are enjoying the benefit too. Well you know where we are if you need us again...

re the teachers presents...no it is not a competition...personally I do record what I receive and from whom in order that I can write each child a thank you note/card...that is the only reason though. TBH I share the chocs with my DD and DS and Ferrero Rocher which I don't like are eagerly appreciated by DS who adores them...I would not be so ungracious as to say they were not enjoyed though. (I eats 'em if they're Thorntons or M&S though cos then they are way too good for DDs and DSs!)
A homemade card is always lovely...I have had flowers and plants which I like have more than enough mugs (but I have had a really gorgeous colourful one from Whittards which is in daily use (remember my mugs are mismatched). Biscuits for the staff to share esp in a tin...we are overrun with silverfish) go down well as do smellies (for me) wine (for me and male teachers like that too). I like the idea of a tree dec. I have one one my tree every year ( a felt one) which was made for me (in the shape of a pressie...)
Don't try to do one upmanship...we appreciate a thank you, too.
In fact as I type on the PC desk there is a necklace (came from sainsbury's) which was a gift...I wore it, telling someone it was a gift from a child and the response was 'it's what you would buy yourself' in other words it is really nice (it is too!)
By the way class teachers do really well usually...it's the TAs and office staff who sometimes get forgotten which is why a tin of biccies goes down well. Mind you we have one mum who makes a huge home made stollen nyom nyom (she knows I love it...she made me my own last year!)
I have also had homemade cookies made by the kids...again lovely...
Hope that helps...Have to say I am not keen on ornaments - no more room but my thanks are genuine...I might keep them for a short time then off they go to Helpthe Aged...
My baby sis always says I am the best person in the world to give presents to because I love getting presents...even if I don't like it you would never know.
Mind you that might be because my grandmother was AWFUL to buy for - anything she didn't like she would give back saying what was wrong with it. Like the shopping bag which was no good because when she was on the bus and had it on her knee she couldn't see over it...and it was not just a shopping bag but an M&S shopping bag ...and a used one at that as she had removed the label and tried it out.

B****r I am short AND old! I almost fell into a freezer in a shop once! I had to have help to get my feet back on terra firma!

AnW'sMum you're welcome. Couldn't face it myself - too much of a traipse but my Morrisons (petrol 89.9p/l)still isn't doing the offer - no competition!

    Thanks Supergirl
Fine today - why wouldn't I be though - last day at work, washing on line, xmas play rehearsals...s'all good.

YOU though have been through the mill with illness lately so are bound to be feeling down...

One of our staff only works Wednesdays so she has Monday in the morning, over the hump at lunchtime and Friday in the afternoon.

We discussed this in the staffroom at lunchtime...for some reason I can't quite put my finger on it didn't go down too well:rotfl:

I'm having a bit of a debate with myself about teacher gifts, especially for DS1. He is in a class with a teacher and 2 LSAs who split the weeks work between them, he has seperate PE teacher, swimming teacher, caretaker he does gardening with, I think there are more. Then there is the secretary who he adores and his HT who is fab. Then of course his escorts who I will buy seperate for who treat him every week, actually no, they spoil him completely! I just can't afford to buy for everyone who's been a part of his life in such a big way really. What I am thinking of doing instead, is giving a large biscuit/chocolate box for the staff room and a donation towards their latest fundraiser for a new minibus. I remember one year being desperately skint and keeping my son off on the last day to save my embarrassment of going in empty handed :( every other parent was discussing how much they spent and what they bought, I just couldn't face it. DS2, I have less of an 'issue' with as there is his teacher and LSA at the mo, which shouldn't be too bad, they're both young teachers (DS2s teacher is 27 and his LSA is 22 I think) so bit unsure what to buy......

Right, one ledge clear, one to go, then we're all BOXED! I'm stunned how much was in here and I didn't really notice, it's a pretty big room however so maybe why. Food cooking, I am soooooo hungyry now! Got UKTV food+1 on which doesn't help! Might have a blast through a few comparison sites, now where did I save those numbers as as predicted I have boxed that piece of paper somewhere.........
One day I might be more organised...........
