I hate you Northerners.

I think thats the point though - if you live in Central London (like I do) its amazing - all the buzz, a walk to work, friendly, not much crime and absolutely beautiful - yes you pay more for stuff, but my rent is the same here as it was in Cambridge - frankly I love it...
Couldn't agree more - I'd either want to live in the centre, or out of London altogether....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

You don't really want to move to cheaper housing, less crime, more countryside, less congestion and friendlier folk? Do you?!?
There isn't "less crime" overall in the north than the south of England, though....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
sometimes i get a bit fed up of london.
then i go and visit a friend elsewhere in the country and remember how backwards the rest of the country is, run into a few inbred townies and flee back to london as fast as i can.0 -

Ha! Ha! I get this when I go back to my home town in SW Scotland and I can't wait to get back to Newcastle/Gateshead. I think OMG! there is no way I could bring my DD up there.:rotfl:Excited for Florida - May 2012 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

My parents' village is a bit like that. Lovely to visit, couldn't live there....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I'm really happy where I live. It's a quiet area with very little crime and I have nice neighbours.I have both countryside and the city nearby, as well as beaches and the Lake District within an hours drive.I would never want to live down South, and couldn't afford to anyway.:D
My cousin lives in a maisonette in Hackney, and could easily sell it and move back up here and buy a nice house in a nice area, it's only her partners job that keeps them in London:o"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Its not just London, I live on the south coast near Brighton, I live in a one bed flat and we want to move to a house but a 2/3 bed average terraced house would cost from £180k upwards and as far as I am aware, (apologies if wrong) general salaries down here on the south coast, are pretty much the same as up North. But we love living on the south coast, few mins walk to the sea, the South Downs only 10 mins away, so its a choice we have made.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0

As opposed to sub-tropical Purley!!!
Southern England has sunnier, warmer weather than the north does. Fact.:p
By the way, Australians can't stand know-it-all, condascending Poms.
Just thought I'd warn you - you want to settle in nicely don't you?:D
P.S. Many Poms return to the UK - the Australian heat soon gets on their wick! And the lack of culture...........................being so far away from home etc..........................
Green grass and all that, ya know?:money:0 -
One of the other things that puts me off London is the fact that the water has, on average, been through seven people on its way to you!
Now if you lived in Bath, you'd enjoy no hosepipe bans and lovely spring water, fortified with many interesting minerals, but certainly not pre-owned!0 -
One of the things we really miss wherever we are is the lovely soft water we have here, even on the east coast it's limey.
We really resent any bans, it's our water, it fell on us and we have the resourvoirs...it's our water first and everyone else should just get in line !!.
AxDon't believe everything you think.
Blessed are the cracked...for they are the ones who let in the light. A x0
