    Hi Old Bean!

All jolly marvellous this side of the Specific Ocean (no vague Oceans around here it seems). Not had too much time for settling so far as I've been here a matter of hours and I'm as confused as a wallaby in Wembley (which is jolly confused, I can tell you).

Generalissimos are tucked in under their doonas* (sp?) and are sleeping like a coupla koalas after a heavy eucalyptus binge. I'm trying to get my brain around what the heck I've done. Beer is helping.

I'd like to know too. At that rate we could live in Spain out of a suitcase and this forum will be empty.

I wouldn't want to move up North again, I lived there for a few years but I prefer the crime and rudeness of London.:D I think it is well worth the negatives to live here. The museums, theatres, clubs, restaurants etc.. in Central London are worth it alone and I like being a tube journey away from it all.

(I realise that there are museums etc in the North btw before anyone points that out.;) )

The house prices here are a b*tch though!!!!!

  • I read that oh-so-hilarious quip in the Reader's Digest. It's quite an old joke actually.

By the way, NDG, I thought you said your Daddy lived 6 miles from where YOU live!

You don't half trip yourself up!:rotfl:

I've never read Reader's Digest. But it is exactly what happened, and not a joke either, really.

By the way to you too, PP, my parents live in SE London, with my brother, about 6 miles from where we live in WC1. They have a county house in mid-rural Kent, where they spend weekends and holidays, and where my sisters live.

Game set and match, county house  were in the money.
Not bad for a couple of plastic scousers (sorry NDG). Don't let PP grind you down.

  • There are more jobs in London OH and I felt v lucky to find jobs that we wanted and could get to from the same place in the North and even then I do commute just over an hour and about 2k worth in train fares. But in the kind of jobs we do we're better off here. Lots of friends in London though so we have the best of both worlds and I only paid £27 for my return last time I went to visit!
  • Blackheath is further than 6 miles from WC1!

    More like 9 or 10!

Why do you exaggerate all the time?:rotfl:

Why do you never apologise when you are wrong?

I'm terribly sorry, "6 miles" isn't quite right. I put our precise postcode and my parents' precise postcode in the AA route planner, and it said it was 6.4 miles. Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa.

That's my regular haunt when I visit Chester. Top hotel and a great breakfast.

Loads of real ales - delicious.

    GG

GG, have you tried this place, just over the other side of the canal from The Mill, it is pretty good.
