    Hello all

Right then, im driving next monday to cologne in time for the england game, more than likely gonna be camping but theres a few sites that are booked up now.

Does any one know of sites near the centre of cologne (big ask I know)? if not near how feasible is it to get trains/metros from campsites?

If all else fails with official sites does anyone reckon that there will be areas where you can pitch a tent or sleep in the car, obviously the drink driving laws are very stringent dont want to get caught short.

Is any one else in the same boat as me me EG: Turnin up and hoping for the best.

We stopped in cologne on Friday night before travelling down to Frankfurt for the England game on Saturday. We stopped here

    http://www.euromedia-hotel.de/home.html

there were 4 of us in the room and it cost us £20 each. The place was empty so I suggest you try there. It is about 30 mins from Cologne itself but about 2 mile of the main motorway.

Beware we got stopped for 45 minutes at the border from holland to germany while the car was searched and passports checked.

    hope this helps
We took on Mr T and we won:D

Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now
  • Cheers, ill give it a try. Thanks for the warning.

Conditional ticket holders - dont give up

i went to berlin sunday 11th and had applied for conditional tickets for the brazil game on the 13th

checked email before i left at 2pm and no mail - checked again monday 7pm, on hotel computer, and had been allocated 2 tickets - what a result - fifa had mailed at 10pm sunday night

spent monday night looking for an internet cafe in berlin so i could print off the the confirmation mail, so i could collect tickets on day of the match

would advise to keep checking your mails as you never know - you might get tickets at the last minute

My OH has just got back. He stayed in a campsite at Frankfurt by the river. http://www.campingplatz-mainkur.de/html/home.html said it was ideal as some 'older' England fans and only a tram ride into the matches. He got tickets for Australia/Japan and Korea/Togo. Could have touted the England matches but didn't. Said the Police etc were fantastic and the atmosphere phenomenal. He went by Speed Ferries for £49 for two with a car. The drive took about 6 hours from the ferry to campsite. He is still telling people that the German beer doesn't give you a hangover and is only 70p a bottle!

Re tickets, yes keep checking the emails. I had an email the night before the Korea match and had to ring him and let him know he had them.

Just got back from 8 days in Germany, had an amazing time. Satyed 4 days in Frankfurt and 4 in Nuremburg (Frankfurt was the best). For those looking to go out at the later stages I would suggest looking on HRS.com for hotels as both of ours were booked on there and were both more than adequate. The train network was also very impressive.

On a negitve note mind I know someone who paid £250 for a ticket and didnt get in as it was registered in the name of a 60 year old man and he is in his early 20's.

i have 2 tickets for the quarter final in frankfurt on the 1st July. I need to sell them because i now have an invitation to the World Cup final on coporate seats or something like that from my friend. Is there any way to sell it legally, i know ebay doesnt allow the sale of fifa goods so thats out of the question.
