Why just Her? what about "Homes under the hammer" "Grand designs" etc, etc etc?
Because the presenters on those programmes do not make it their personal campaign (appearing on discussion programmes, writing articles in newspapers, etc..) to talk young, first time buyers into stretching themselves as much as possible to get on the housing market with a non stop mantra of "prices only go up, up, up".
I wouldn't mind so much, but she has a vested, largely undisclosed reason for ramping the housing market into a frenzy. From Wikipedia "Allsopp founded Kirmir Property Search, and in 1996 founded Garrington Homefinders."
So, her and many of her friends/business partners make vast amount of money out of people buying houses.
She uses her position of 'power', as a self called "property expert", to influence the housing market for her own (and business partners) interests.
Many people, rightly I believe, consider that house prices have been ridiculous for years. And that the bubble in the market would damage the economy. That has turned out to be true. The ramping of house prices has meant that many people are now in negative equity, many people face repossession and many people who shouldn't have started property businesses face bankruptcy.
Borrowing hundreds of thousands of pounds is a huge risk. Sanity has returned to the market and people realise this, but for a few years many believed you didn't need a deposit, you should borrow 5,6, 10x your earning to get on the ladder.
Alsop feed into this, for her personal gain. In fact, her latest programme, very dangerously in a falling market, has a new mantra: "you've got to buy a property because everyone needs a home".
In fact, while in on a bit of a rant, if you recall about a year ago, Alsop led a campaign to reduce or get rid of stamp duty. Do you really think that changes to the stamp dupty laws would have made much difference to the first time buyer? No. Banks not lending money is the problem. But think about it, if you lower/get rid of stamp duty who does it really benefit? It benefits people buying and seling multiple houses or flats i.e. property developers like her and her friends not the average man or woman on the street.I am an employment solicitor. On the other hand, imagine a young couple who stumbled upon the Housepricecrash web site in December 2005 and, as a result, decided to wait a bit longer.......
That was me and OH - I was 27, and he was 26....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Exactly Pobby.
Reminds me of when John Mccain picked Sarah palin as running mate.
Shows VERY poor judgment and that poor judgment is the reason itself why I couldnt vote for Mccain- or in this case conservaitves.
I dont want to vote labour at all , but will never be voting tory while kirstie is anywhere near power.

Top post Pobby'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
The couple in that video did well though selling their home at the right time. As for kirsty I do fancy her a bit, - a little bit like going for a house viewing with an estate agent . If its a bloke expect to really anger and annoy them for pushing house prices up but then melt when I find out the estate agent is a lady.;-)0
