Just because somebody is on TV, it hardly makes them an expert.
Ever see that Craig fella from Big Brother on those DIY shows? Talks a lot about home improvement so he must be a complete boffin.....
I didn't use the word "stupid" but would suggest that it is completely "stupid" to blame her for all of this.

Mate, I don't think anyone thinks that the entire collapse of the UK economy is down to some bint from a property show.
However she set herself up as an expert, gave expert advice (potentially with a major vested interest) and has been proven totally and comprehensively wrong.
What she is, or was, is the poster child of the property ramping VI spinning "houses only go up" set.
That is why she is so widely vilified.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Ha!
The people on HPC are lunatics. When they do get something right it's luck.
I see them posting about Inflation, deflation, crashes, Japan, I read it and most of it is drivel. It's a collection of unqualified plonkers taking pleasure in other people's misfortune in the hope that they benefit.
Nasty and uncalled for.

Derv, while he is having a go at them he is leaving you alone :T'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Ha! No, I won't.
That site is full of people with an attitude. The funny thing is they can't see the hypocrisy of it all. They hate people who have made, or have tried to profit from house price increases. What do they all want? To benefit from house price decreases and other people's misfortune. How is one any better than another?
At the same time, what qualifications do any of them hold? I saw that thread the other week about their jobs and careers. They're all IT people or office temps. Nothing wrong with that but stop talking like you know the financial markets inside out.
Of course I'm being general calling them lunatics but it's difficult to argue against HPC being some kind of Arkham Asylum
They bore me with their uneducated and uninformed drivel.
They spout crap about LIBOR, derivatives, RM and all of it is based on what they've read from Peston or on Wiki. I was laughing my socks of at their amateur shorting on HBOS and then moaning that bank failures are runing us all! LOL.
They're plonkers, the lot of them.0 -

I never even knew that you could buy a house until I watched one of krusty/phil's shows. Well, straight away I ran out to the House Shop (I since discovered that House Shops are called 'Estate Agents') and bought one, so as not to miss the boat. It took months. Who knew it was so hard to buy one??
Well, I decided that if krusty/phil thought that houses were worth getting (and they must be cos they were on the telly), then I'd buy the best damned house that I could. I got a 120% mortgage and bought a huge place for many hundreds of thousands.
Wel,, now I'm stuck with huge mortgage payments, negative equity and the repo men will be coming round soon to boot me out.
This is krusty/phil's fault, if only I hadn't watched that damned TV program!! . I'm seriously thinking of suing the film makers, but I need to clear my current cases:
Case 1: Dithering Dad v Top Gear (they said that a Lambourghini was good. I bought one but can't insure the bloody thing. They didn't mention this anywhere in their program. I'll take em to the cleaners).
Case 2: Dithering v Hell's Kitchen (my cooking has improved, but I can't stop saying "f*&k").
then again......
so how many incredibly stupid people reside in the uk then, dad?
wanna guess how many fall for the hard sell every time?
isn't it the mug punters who make the world go around?
hysterical sarcasm, btw.miladdo0 -

George Galloway appears on TV and he's a supposedly a political expert, you'd be very stupid to take any notice of his opinion!!0 -

Of course people make mistakes, but she didn't even couch it that "in her opinion", she stated and re stated it as fact in a capacity as an expert and whilst having a very vested interest to do so.
The thread is about why Krusty is so vilified, that is the reason. The fact that she continually tried (and no doubt succeeded in many cases) to abuse her position to ramp property because it suited her to do so and to believe it.
She mislead people who were not expert on one of the biggest investment decisions of their lives.
Pointing at other people and saying "well they made mistakes too" doesn't excuse anything I'm afraid, not many of the general public were investing huge sums of money in the Beatles.
Sorry, yes, my last 5 words were dripping with sarcasm but the rest of the post was sincerely meant.
Don't most "experts" have some sort of vested interest?
People rarely become an "expert" in something that doesn't entail them spending a great deal of time, energy or money in. Often all 3.
I don't buy this, she's an "expert" and people will blindly do as the experts say.
I dont see this mirrored in real life.
Experts tell us to eat healthily. Result? We're the fattest we've ever been.
Experts tell us to have safe sex. Result? Spiralling teenage pregnancy and rising STD's.
Experts tell us to drive safely within the speed limit. Result? Countless people flount the speed limits.
No. What is really happening is people are making their own decisions on things they do in life.
The problem only arises when things go wrong and people look around for a reason for why it's gone worng.... it sure as hell can't be their fault after all.... can it?0 -

That is so correct, they are are all looking for a scapegoat.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is.
