  • Glad your back Nat - it's been quiet here lately... everyone seems to be slowly coming back though! Well done on the cheap break - I went camping in Cornwall this weekend, the cost when I was there wasn't great but a lot cheaper then the holidays I've been on before! Let us know how you're doing with your bank balance and if you're still on track - is the OD gone yet? Mine is still at same old, but I've got my determination back to get it down - trying for extra jobs to do it as quickly as possible!!! x

Well this is exactly what happens when you take your eye off the ball.

Please note updated signature below. And although I know it doesn't look good, thanks to my amazing spreadhseet (which I have just updated for the first time in many, many weeks) I know that I can fix it!! It is just going to take me getting back into my former debt-busting, tip-top shape!

Main (and indentifable) reasons for my current debt situation....
    • was paid for painting £250 (not as much as I would have liked and I had to haggle to get that much - note to self, negotiate all fees in advance. Photos will follow at some point)
    • had friends leaving do which required a new outfit and shoes, which I bought instead of raiding my wardrobe!!
    • put £100 towards buying my friends car (OH put the other £100 in) with the idea of selling it on to make a little money. OH (who is a mechanic) then discovered it is in desperate need of a new clutch and so it is still sat on MIL drive waiting for him to do something with it (I would have thought it would have been good idea to go over the car before buying it... but I am not the mechanic!!)
    • Weeks holiday in Devon - cheap, but obviously still money was spent. We were good and converted clubcard vouchers into tickets for Diggerland and Cafe Rouge - but as we were out and about every day and covered about 900 miles... money was spent.
    • Brothers 21st birthday - present and card
    • Took some money back from HSBC account to cover A&L OD
    • Just general spending - more than I had done, but still nothing that really sticks in my mind.
So there you are - I am back with a vengence. My HSBC OD has to go (I've been here I know!) and my new debt situation includes the money that I didn't pay to my Egg loan for 2 months as I took a 'holiday' from payments. Unless you are really strict - I am not sure this is a good thing to do.

So I am now doing some daily clicks and have logged the money that my OH owes me and I have some bits on ebay and they are selling ok.

Am toying with the idea of a Sunday job - but is there anyone out there who wants staff on a Sunday only? (as I already work alternate Saturdays!). I am also going to step up my overtime at work.

So, situation not fantastic - but beating myself until I am black and blue is not going to help. I am just going to re-group and re-muster my DFW ways and set off again.

Well, I hope to be around again now - so, catch you all later! Nats x

as to a sunday job, do you have a local co op? they sometimes do shifts on particular days and people don't always want to work sundays.
  • Check out Argos as well - they're hiring Xmas Temps and might just have Sunday shifts... don't worry too much about overspendinf for a couple of months.. it's how you move forward that is important as I'm learning after my splurge and pay day loans!!! Keep up the diary I've found it was when I wasn't writing in here that I was spending!!! xx

  • Morning All!!

Right - am going to look at Sunday jobs for Argos, Waitrose and the Co-op (thank you Lemon Tree and Elizabeth) for your suggestions. I might also have a look at the Post Office as they took on extra staff for the sorting offices last year. I am also going to up my OT at work - having thought about it last night, I think that I would rather work OT in my existing job than work on a Sunday if I had a choice. But sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!

And Elizabeth - I agree..... it is obviously either writing on here or spending - amazing how it works!!! Have decided that I prefer writing on here (one day it will be spending though!)

Well it is good to be back (although I wish I had bought happier news with me!) I will catch up on all your diaries in detail over the next few days!

you are both very right, if i dont' come on here it's because i'm ashamed of what i've done, and the only time i really spent a few months off of the boards (right near the start), i spent again half of what i had paid of my debts, i could kick myself.
  • Yes Lemontree - I was exactly the same - I didn't want to come on here and admit what I'd done, but I'm so glad I did!! Looking forward to having you back full time Nat ;)

BTW - did you get that sewing done??
