What sort of things does he like to eat at home? Can they be adapted to packed lunches?

He will pretty much eat anything and I have shown him the suggestions on here, as long as it doesn't ruin his street cred or looks too fancy(if you know what I mean) hes okay with any of them. So thanks a lots, hopefully have it sorted.

my dd says i should share this idea from their schooldays. (still remembered after all these years). blend some tomato ketchup into peanut butter and you have a "tasty" sandwich spread. i got it from a book but didn't taste it before giving it them in their pl boxes.

anyway, if he is 14, why not let him make his own PL?

    happy new packed lunches!

ditch the cheese string and give them cubed cheese with a few grapes / apple slices
ditch the kit kat and batch make your own cookies / flapjack / muffin type things

those drinky yogs are expensive ! why not just give them a lil pot of yog or make your own with plain yog and whatever dried fruit etc they like

Try visiting your local pound shop to get some small tupperware containers - easy to fill with raisins, chunks of cheese, nuts, etc....saves buying them prepacked.

What about making your own cakes or muffins or cereal bars instead of chocolate, there's lot of reciepes on here that will help.....

My DD's have a HM roll with filling of ham/salami/cheese/salad etc, a pot of raisins, cubes of cheese, cucumber, beetroot, mixed nuts, carrot sticks etc then a HM muffin or cake, cheese straws.

They'll both take a hot flask of soup or stew or a cold portion of quiche or pasta salad.

They both get to choose a bit of fruit for their box each day too - and get another bit at school for break.

thought of another,if they like "dunkers" make your own by buying mini plain breadsticks (or make your own) and then put a lil pot of cream cheese / dairylea in

ive saved a few pots from dairylea dunkers and serve them to my 3 yr old in that

hes none the wiser lol but much cheper !
