Thanks beachbeth - I don't have a BeRo book - would you be kind enough to post the recipe please?

I don't have the BeRo book, but this is the recipe I use for banana loaf.

Edited to add: Just found the recipe for banana bread in the breadmaker.
  • I bought my two daughters some beakers from Wilkinsons for fruit juice. They are plastic with a built in straw in the lid, made by Thermos. They cost 99p and more importantly are the only beakers I've found that do not leak...!!!!
You can get them in blue, lilac and pink. Most of my family now have them for their kids too.....
Well worth trying and so much cheaper than buying cartons every day (plus they hold more than a carton so the kids get a decent amount to drink):T

    Quite keen moneysaver......

although my daugther isn't even 3 yet, ( 3 in oct) she goes to nursery once a week. and in her lunch box she has jam sandwiches ( i use a cutter and make either star , angel , cat , teddy bear or duck shaped sandwiches, she loves this ) then 3 pieces of fruit ( banana , strawberry , satsuma , raisins , apple or grapes ) a piece of homemade cake and a yoghurt.

hope this is of some help.
  • This thread has given me some good ideas.

My DS (4 ) starts school on Thursday pick up at 1pm after lunch. He will be having pack up.
  • Hiya

Boots do some great "twisty fish", they are filled with omega 3, but my son thinks there sweets and moans that he's only allowed one a day!!! They also do "gummy bears" which have multivitamins in them.

Also, boots often do 3 for 2 on all vitamins so I aways stock up.

My sons school does not allow even hm cake or biscuits as the kids get a sugar rush and do not concentrate so much. I have taken a lot of advice from another thread as I was having problems getting my kids to eat healthy food. They will be going to school with brown bread, ham with 96 - 97% pork content or edam cheese slices, (have yet to experiment with other fillings), Water in a nike sports bottle which does not leak and a banana or apple slices and a yoghurt.

it so nice to read some other tips on what to put in a lunch box. although my daugther loves her selection and often asks for excalty the same at home. it great if were going out for day taken a lunch box with me for the kids of little delights they will enjoy. i love trying new food on them, that i know is full of goodness.

on a slightly diff note, while i was taking my daugther to nursery the other day , a little boy and his parent came in. and as he walked in his lunch box opened and all fell out. it contained 2 bits of bread for his brekkie ( we got there a 9am so why he didn't have lunch before he left i'll never know, i'd never leave the house without kids having brekkie , but each child is diff ) then he has a sandwich, 2 mars bars , a pack of crisps and some choc biscuits. i found it so upsetting. he didnt even have a bit of fruit for the mid morning fruit snack.

sorry to waffle , i expect the child loved it but i thought it was quite sad.

    Hi jcr16,

I know what you mean.....a thread I found on the board earlier today made me feel sad too.

Thriftmonster, I hope that you don't mind me linking to it, but I really think it would be of interest to readers of this thread.

Packed lunches and the "food police"

good link pink winged.i think the food police is a real shame.

i always remember at primary school. i used to have packed lunches and u weren't allowed to leave the table until u had eaten everything. and once my drink had leaked onto my sandwiches. and made them all mushy. and i asked if i could please leave them. anyway i got told how wasteful i was and i had to eat them. god i was almost sick. i can remember crying as i was eating them . ( i was only 6 ) .
