I was told that the dinner ladies enjoy looking to see what kids get in their boxes, gives them something to talk about. Boy must they have felt sorry for my kids some days :rotfl:0

I'm not a dairylea lunchables type for many reasons including the cost of them . Today my daughter has an onion bagel with cheese, tomatoes, grapes and because its Friday a flapjack
. I don't understand why people buy those things, they look really yuck and are way too expensive.

My kidz lunch boxes are filled with all kinds of good things like corn cobs, fruit salad, tuna and cold pasta, grated cheese and carrot pots etc but one of the things they love and I'm really ashamed of is:
TINNED HOT DOG SAUSAGES:eek:
I know they contain bits of pig that even the pig didn't know it had got but I bow to pester power once a week and stick them in. Even more shamefully I have been known to eat the 'spare one' if the tin cannot be split equally thee ways.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Secretly, I really like tinned hot dogs! I lived on them when i was in uni! lolYou lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

I helped out at school lunch at a primary school and was put on the packed lunch tables...and I was shocked to see what people put in the childrens boxes. (this was about 5 years ago, so hopefully it has improved alot)
One boy had chocolate spread sandwiches, a chocolate bar, bag of crisps, chocolate mousse and a fizzy drink. I couldnt believe it (said in my best victor meldrew voice)

I bought a laptop lunchbox for my kids to cut down on waste packaging and to give them healthy lunches www.laptoplunches.co.uk
My kids are 8 and 6 and their favourites are
Pitta bread stuffed with salad veg and houmus (I cut the pitta in half and stuff one side of it for the 6 year old)
Refried beans spread on tortilla's with grated cheese, roll up and cut into pinwheels or leave as is.
Nuts and seeds
Fruit including dried
cubes of cheese
Sticks of veg with houmous or peanut butter as a dip
pasta or rice salad
sunflower or pumpkin seeds
hard boiled egg cut in half“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Today my kids have got mini wholemeal loaves (rolls made in mini loaf tins) sliced to make little cheese sandwiches, grapes and fresh figs( half a fig each),carrot sticks and cherry toms, cashew nuts/sunflower seeds and chocolate covered rice cakes.
Yesterday they had spicy sausage and pasta salad (with peas, sweetcorn and carrot in), a flapjack, kiwi/plum and some twiglets.
On Wednesday they had tortillas spread with cream cheese and ham then cut into sections to look like sushi, fruit salad, pretzels, cherry toms and veg sticks and one chocolate coconut cluster.
I've just bought these lunch boxes and am totally inspired to make fantastic lunches.
