I am no network expert but I dont beleive this will work, you will need a "CROSSOVER" cable and even then I'm not sure the PC will issue an IP address to the "box" as this is normally managed by the router

If anybody seeking one of these is in range of BEDFORD PC WORLD then my folks returned one to them Friday 13th am - so likely to still be there available for purchase (and don't forget the 10% off a wireless device in the PC World Magazine - my folks had been able to use taht coupon when buying it).

Hi guys.

Sorry for the late reply - I got it working (hooray!) but it's still got a few glitches! lol!!

In the end I connected it using the straight cat5 cable to my PC and I figured out that it's not happy with the IP address it had (something like 196.265.0.1) so I had to change the last digit on the computer and on the box and then it connected fine! Only problem is, as soon as I turn the pinnacle box off, if I turn it back on it won't connect to the same IP address! I have to go into the computer and change the LAN IP address and then change it on the box again so it can connect!! lol!!!! (to beat that I've just been leaving it on all the time so it's nto too much of a problem!)

And if anyone else has got one and is having problems, DON'T GIVE UP!! This is a seriously GREAT piece of kit and it's soooo worth all the agro! I've been listening to all my music on the TV (sounds much better thru the TV speakers than the computer ones!) and when I can be botherd I'll probably rip all my DVDs to th PC so then I can just go into them thru the showcenter rather than messing around with discs!
