Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thur 20th of November. It is is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning.....I must be the best dressed member this morning. I was up at 4.30 waiting to get picked up for a trip to Birmingham (work stuff). Got a text at 5 saying it's all off! Great, so here I am sitting here in shirt and tie like a lemon.
I will go in at 7 instead, at least I can then go home earlier.
Computer is fixed, so I can pick up that tonight. OH was supply teaching yesterday and had a 9 year old throw chairs and pencils at her. Who needs that. I am all for child protection issues, but some kids need a darn good thrashing! Thankfully the head teacher took him away.
Not much money saving today. I did get a pressie on Play.com, which saved £10 over the shops. There was one thing though that I thought was great. Look at this. It's a bit rude, but strangly amusing.
Daily Express headline yesterday was 'food and fuel down'. Not in my town! Diesel, bread, milk, bacon, meat, electricty, are still expensive thanks!
Cheers folks

Morning N9eav & all to follow,
We had another huge storm here last night about 11pm. Lots of rain and in some places they had 250ml in about 2 hours. DGS woke up scared from the noise. His high temp is back this arvso XDIL said. I think he's getting another bout of tonsilitis.
Just done the usual today. DH home from work and we are just about to head off to YS house to put up the curtain rods & curtains etc. I'll take my camera.
If anyone wants a laugh he's some Aussie humour at it's best.
steph Hugs & thinking of your DD at this sad time.
N9eav The mind boggles at what they'll be doing at 18.
CM You're forgiven. It's called early senility.
Hope you all have a great day & <hugs> to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Morning all,
I managed to do quite a bit of gardening y/day in the sunshine, cleared leaves, tidied borders and wrapped pots to keep frost off. Today the plan is to cook DD2 and Sil 2b stuffed marrow & veg for their dinner and drop off when I take their 2 labs for a walk, then DH and I will start Xmas shopping in Yeovil, so many sales on I hope to save quite a bit.
Our place is almost back to normal after the huge w/end gathering. Sadly DM was unwell so didn't come to stay, must phone her.
Looking after DF's house again and have strict instructions to collect more apples off their tree, we are inundated with them but don't like to refuse so will make a cake and give it to a church sale.
So much sadness on here at the moment so am saying prayers and sending Huge hugs to those suffering. (((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))0 -

Good Morning All
Thank you N9eav & Aussie - nice start to the day.
Sorry Kaat lady I think I must be missing somethine - DH machine??
Nice and mild here today think is meant to tirn much colder tomorrow with snow being mentioned.
Not sure what am doing today, may be going to Ikea at Lakeside to have a look at the market place or if I stay at home will get some more christmas pressies wrapped and work out what else I need to buy. Cant make a decision so think will wait till OH wakes and see what he wants to do.
Will definately be doing some washing, ironing and make a loaf of bread whatever happens. Also think will put some soda crystals down the kitchen sink - cant remember the last time I did that.
Have a good day.
(((hugs))) where needed.

Off to work soon, I wonder if Mrs Degree will be in today?
Sybil, I loved your comment about a degree being the smallest measurement, I'll remember that is she starts, big hugs by the way, I hope you feel better soon.
Marathon cake making session tonight as I must take cakes to work tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

HI all - I loved that, Aussie! I shall save it to show DH when he comes home tonight! (((Hugs))) to your DGS.
N9EAV - I know the perfect person to give that turtle to - thanks for the link! I agree with you about the 'food and fuel down' myth - not here, either! The usual politicians' lies, methinks.
(((Hugs))) to PenPin - hope today is a good day for you.
(((Hugs))) to Stef and her DD - a terrible worry for you both.
Well, I'm off to work shortly; I've done as much housew**k as I can for now. Two long days ahead of me - what fun!
Dinner tonight will be a no-brainer - HM steak pie, chips and gravy; one of my favourites. We had a lovely stew last night with enough left over for dinner tomorrow night so at least I won't have to do proper cooking when I get home tomorrow. If DH is in before me, he can even reheat it ready for when I get back.
Anyway, weather looks quite hopeful,
Hope everyone has a good day.
