if they are bad they should have spotted it and moved to better performing investments. I did pay charges after all.
They are not allowed to change the funds. That is for you, your IFA or discretionary fund manager to do. Not the provider.
If you invest all your money in one fund and that sector is a disaster then the provider cant do anything about it as there is the fund objective and rules. A UK equity fund for example has to invest in UK equity. Even if UK equity is likely to be awful.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Really? They fund manglers (are supposed!) to have the ability to switch a percentage of their portfolio to cash :rotfl:Are U getting enough Vitamin D in your life!?0 -
Wouldn't that have to be specified in the fund rules ? Some may allow, some not ?0

Are there rules limiting how much cash they can hold if they want to qualify as ISA eligible?0 -
Sounds like time for these finance houses to be sent back to the investment fund drawing board...no not to "draw" some more money out!......to redesign their products so investors are not handed this mess. :mad:Love your son.0

I like the fact that my funds have specified objectives and that they are required to invest in areas defined in advance. That makes the decision to withdraw to cash mine and mine alone to make, otherwise they keep on trading in what they're supposed to trade in. What would be the point in investing in a China fund or a Commodity fund if the fund manager was sitting on 100% cash in both cases?I am a Chartered Financial Planner

Depends on the published objectives. Most will have a limit on how much cash they can hold. Often its quite low. Although recently, a number of fund managers have been changing the objectives to allow a wider scope of instruments to be used.
Some funds cannot hold cash at all apart from that required and obtained through daily dealing.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
