just a warning about twinks hobnobs - if you think putting them in the freezer will help make them last thin again. there are crunchy but just as nice frozen :)

Oh my god twinks hobnobs are lethal in this house! They are the main reason for my tupperware hunt because them being left on the side covered over on a plate are lethal and walking past them means you have to have a nibble or 3. Plus the mixture before its even baked is quite yummy too - shamed!

they don't survive the night here. Am wondering if I can add some dried fruit to them myself though and make boyfriend a sort of healthy cereal flapjack too and then I tend to drizzle some chocolate over the top - not fully coated - if I want to give Ben a little treat.

Well, after all the talk yesterday about hobnobs, I made two batches today. First batch had chocolate chips in and the second batch I added a teaspoonful of mixed spice and a generous handful of sultanas. Those ones have just come out of the oven and smell delish!

I'm having a new fridge freezer delivered today, (I still have my other fridge and freezer, but there's never enough room in them!) so I'm hoping that some of the hobnobs survive until tomorrow when I can freeze them. Not sure about my chances on that though, I think I'll have to hide some of them!

Answer - very frugally :) Job ended New Year's Eve, been on JSA since, now on ESA as signed off by doc/advised by Job Centre manager not fit to look for full time work - claiming council tax benefit/housing benefit, although I do have to pay something towards both. JSA/ESA £65.45 week less bills doesn't leave much to play with.:eek::eek:
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

Still not gotten round to clearing out cupboards but will get my backside in gear and get it done - trying to do a use up things in the cupboard / freezer week as get my maternity allowance on Thursday next week but want to defrost freezer first - there is bu**er all in the fridge though - couple of frubes, mayonnaise, half bag of lettuce, a chicken breast and some dodgy looking carrots!

Made boyfriend a curry last night with a home pride tin and have to say it was very watery indeed, although in fairness I had some reduced LARGE chicken breasts from the coop - £6 down to £4.50 (and I had my dividend yesterday that was £40 so I used a £10 voucher and got other odds and ends plus my 10% staff discount) so put two breasts in and it gave him a large portion yesterday because he was starving after work with rice and bread and butter, and he had another decent portion to take to work this morning with a bag of microwaved rice - they were 2 for £1 in Home Bargains although am sure a supermarket does microwave rice pouches - I'll have to see if i can find it and get some next week in my shopping.

So mainly today I will be listing what's in the flat that's edible and seeing what I can make/cook/bake etc from it - but have to go over the hospital this morning - joy! more blood tests for anaemia - don't see what good it will due as I've only 13 days until bump is due.

I just bought a Mr S Basics hand-held food mixer. Works fine and I have turned some very elderly coriander into smooth delicious soup. No more veggie waste in this house! (Less than a fiver!)

Some really bizarre stuff here. Such as, chocolate covered biscuits are at the standard rate, but chocolate body paint is zero-rated! Who makes these rules up??

I love that Biscuits are standard vat rate as they are a luxury but cakes are zero rated as a staple?

You are wasted on here, you should be on the stage, thats absolutely flipping brilliant.

Made hobknobs, added 2oz of coconut, just because I had bought it, and they are lovely. Am just going to hide half of them in the freezer and not tell anyone you can eat them frozen.

I can't see any reason why you can't add dried fruit to the HobNobs mixture. I've used all sorts of variations one of which was to substitute the oats for muesli at a chum's house and they came out really, really fab. I think they lasted all of about ten minutes when they came out of the oven. Peanut butter is good, too.

Could anybody point me in the direction of the Twinks Hobnobs recipe?
I've read so much about them, you all seem to love them!
    Thanks, Arty.
