It is tough NOW. So how are we coping

Lizzyshep maybe you have just had a tough class/classes this year. Teaching is a very rewarding career however it can be easy to lose track of the good parts. Think of all the positive differences you have made to children's lives.
Use the easter and summer holidays to think about what else you would enjoy doing. Maybe it would be an idea to teach part time and pursue other interests in your days off and that way you have the best of both worlds?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Lizzyshep have you considered moving schools? I know from watching the staff at my sons old school that after a few years in the same school they have all got into a rut, several have moved on in the last few months and all are now much happier and benefiting from the change.0

Thanks both. You're right, I have had a difficult class this year and it's made me really miserable. I've also been upset by how certain things have been dealt with, and that has made me want to pack it all in. Moving to another workplace is a possibility, the thing is that I've changed subjects and I'm not sure I have enough experience in the new one to stand much chance of getting another job. I may be better staying put for now. I have asked to go part time and I think this will help. I've also found the Teachers Support Network and will give them a ring tomorrow. In the meantime I think I need to try and be more positive and focus on how lucky I am, there are a lot of good things in my life!April Grocery Challenge: £80/£64.39

Hang on in there Lizzyshep! We're all hanging there with you!
Sometimes life is tough but sometimes its better that you know than the devil that you don't. I have been fed up at work and moved for a 'better' job - only to discover the same set of problems in the next job. It seems that whereever I 've worked, be it a huge government office or a small family firm, there has always been a liberal sprinkling of 'personalities' - the bully, the snob, Miss Sanctimonious and there is always someone who nearly breaks their neck to report the smallest misdemeanour to the manager! I try to be nice to everyone and not get drawn into office politics and gameplaying.
Keep positive Lizzyshep!:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

I do think when you have a tricky class it can take away from the successes. Try and focus on the children you have had a positive effect on and I am sure there will be many. Changing workplace is unlikely to have a huge impact unless it is to a place that you know already. Frustrating things happen everywhere.
As you say focus on the many good things that you have going on in your life. Maybe think of a course or book that you could read that could give you a new approach to your teaching, it might not have an immediate impact but it could give you a new perspective?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Heartwarming news taplady well done! Good to hear that you are feeling better about things Lizzyshep remember there are always people here to discuss things with.
As for me I am going to have a tough day today so I may be seeking help and advice myself later!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Morning all!
Rummer, we had a veg box for several years, but eventually the amount in it shrunk so much and the price went up so much that it was pointless! Was a real shame as we all loved it, but no point if by the end it only had about a third of the veg we eat a week!
Lizzyshep, good luck sorting out things with the job! Once you feel unhappy about something it can take a huge effort to change how you see things, I think we've all been there at some time! Part time may make all the difference, or even simply considering your options can sometimes be enought to make you realise that you do have options, which can often make you feel better.
Pitlanepiglet - great news about the car! OH told me last night that his car needed a new bit, was just bracing myself when he thoughtfully mentioned that it was a bulb!!!! I'd almost fallen over by then lol!
Still feeling very positive about things, think seeing some more sunshine helps! Planning to do some more sorting out in the kitchen today, and actually want to clean the floor, I'm still loving the new tiles! Waited so long for a new floor, eight years actually, and now it's done it just makes me smile! Even better, because we did it all ourselves we saved a huge amount of money, though in reality if we hadn't done it we wouldn't have been able to afford it! And on the bright side again, I now own and can use an angle grinder lol!
Planning to put some pics up as well, ages ago I saw a canvas that someone had done with their children's hand prints on it, so I have done a similar thing, four canvases each with a print on, and I'm going to hang them in the hallway. We seem to have a lack of pictures hanging up, I own lots but they never seem to reach the walls.
Right, guess I best go check what the meal plan holds for today just incase it's something that needs to go in the sc! Have a lovely day all xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
