Love the post SandraScarlett, both you and mimi have some wonderful posts.
I've just read through the last few pages - boy it took some time to read posts since I looked last night.
There have been a few posts about wrapping the Elle gift bags and it's so many pages back I'm being a bit lazy and not quoting who has the problems.
I've not got the bag but I'm pretty sure it's would fit in a wine box - no not one of the 3L one with a bag of wine in - the boxes that have 6 bottles in. The supermarkets usually have these around and are happy for you to take them. Pop the bag in a free box and much easier to wrap. If you're uncomfortable getting a free box (as if!) you could always buy 6 bottles of wine, drink them all and then use the box for the Elle bag. Don't wrap after drinking 6 bottles though!0 -
good idea karen about the wine box, i on the other hand shall let this so called elle bag bargain go this time :rotfl:
elc . co .uk has a glitch on with the 342's it takes off the highest value item

Thanks for the tip about the wine boxes Karen, i think i'm going to get some of them (and some wine of course:p ). TBH in previous years i have to admit i would have just gone out and bought expensive gift boxes to put things into.:o But when i was doing some boxes up for the shoebox appeal this year my OH offered to help by wrapping up the boxes for me. He used glue to attach the paper to the box and lid and took so much time getting it all right that it looked fantastic in the end. I'm going to get some more boxes and wrap them up to put pressies into, plus i thought the shoe box itself without the lid would make a great and cheaper alternative to baskets for some hampers i'm planning on doing. I feel really organised this xmas for a change, so i'm enjoying the fact that i'll have the time to spend doing this rather than at the last minute. All i need now is a glitch on wrapping paper Mr B:D:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
I remember the last budget increase it must have been about 17 years ago (i'm sure I was a baby and it was child labour) vat went from 15% to 17.5% and that was in the days when everything was priced individually. I worked in a small shop then and that was a nightmare:eek: .0

Can anyone confirm you can use the adittional 500 points voucher from a previous xmas night in a different store. Same date written on it.. Plan on travelling to a bigger store to get my goodies but dont want to and lose my extra points TIA:heart2:Stupid, unreliable vampire.:heart2:0

My young cousin has got a xmas job at Boots, and I was overjoyed. When I asked when the sale was ..he told me to........ and I quote ...
do one:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::eek: You're supposed to dispense the drugs, not take 'em :rotfl:
Btw, I'd ask when the sales were actually starting - on herebut no doubt that'll filter through via someone's aunt, 'friend' second cousin twice removed, (you get the idea lol) to a select few.
Meanwhile, back at the ranchHave they stopped giving till splits on over the counter medicines? I've always got them before but not this time
TiaI appreciate Each and Every win. I thank every comp poster from the bottom of my heart :A0 -

So I wonder what exactly will happen next Monday, in all the shops? Taking Boots as an example, what products are subject to 17.5% tax, which are tax free, or zero rated and are we going to be winners or losers?
I remember last time, our hairdressers (and nearly every shop) raised their prices "to cover the VAT increase, you see dear" - I just can't see them reducing in their droves.
Although I try to think of The Good of Mankind, and how people are affected globally, or even nationally, I'm basically thinking of me and mine and "will I have more in my purse, or do I have to strangle myself and pull in my belt yet another notch?" Sorry if that sounds selfish.
At the moment, as far as I can see, the VAT decrease would be great news if I was going to buy a £15,000 car, as I'd then save £375, (I think) :T but as I'm more likely to be buying a £3.75 chicken, which is VAT free anyway, I can't get too excited.:(
But I just lurve the title Sir Mimi of Pountingshire!!!0 -

In desperation, when I haven't found baskets for hampers, I've covered the display boxes that Boots uses on their shelves. I've found some good sized interesting shaped ones and the stores are more than happy for you to take the boxes away.0 -
