Hello everyone - I hope you are all enjoying 2007 so far.

Unfortunately I'm not feeling very well again, I've caught a nasty throat viral thing that has been doing the rounds at work. It's perfect timing as I've got the hospital on Monday  . I always get ill before going there and my doctor thinks I am always ill but I'm not, it's just when I go there!!

Oh well, I will post again tomorrow about my progress when I am more with it.

Hi Emily, just thought I would pop in to see how you are getting on. Your positiveness always rubs off on me and I needed a bit of a boost.

Sorry to hear about the throat infection. Not sure if I've mentioned this before but I find that if I gargled with tea tree oil when things were going around the office, I more often than not escaped infection.

Put 1 drop of pure essential tea tree oil into half a small glass of water, stir to disperse the oil, gargle, stir, gargle until glass empty. (Book actually recommends a drop of Geranium too but that has a foul taste).
Obviously don't do this if you know you are allergic to the oil.

Neat tea tree oil is also good on ulcers and it shifted an abcess for me over Xmas which antibiotics failed to get rid of. (Just note that this was a stop gap measure over the holiday period before seeing my dentist again and is no substitute for avoiding the professionals)

    Hi Emily

Sorry you're not well, but as usual you have a positive attitude. The cards I got for christmas were very much appreciated and admired by those lucky enough to receive them so thanks for that. Now, I need a kick up the bum to sort my debts out for this year. I do mystery shopping already and have entered competitions but not won anything. Could you please pm me the competition sites you use cos never seem to find a lot on the one I look at. I'm seriously going to have to look at other ways of getting a bit extra so any other ideas would be welcome, from anyone else. As a lst resort anyone with rather large wellingtons is quite welcome to kick my butt to get me moving!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all of your get well messages. I haven't decided whether or not to go to work tomorrow morning or not yet. I've got the hospital in the afternoon so I'm off then anyway but the infection still hasn't 'come out' properly yet so I feel like I'm not so unwell that I can't make it into work. I hate it when this happens. I either want to be ill enough that I KNOW I can't work or feel well enough to go into work - none of this in between stuff!!

Anyway, I'm starting to panic about winning something for my boyfriend for Valentine's day now. I'm so impatient I know. I have been entering comps like there's no tomorrow so hopefully I might get something through soon. I have got my eye on a weekend break through a competition with Grolsch. They are giving one away everyday until the end of the month so fingers crossed for that one. It would be the perfect present.

I think I might start on trying to win some presents for March too as I've got a few then and need to get a head start.

    I need to win:

A birthday present for my Gran - a nice smellies set or some vouchers would be great for this. I'm not too worried about this as I've got some vouchers in my 'present box' which would cover this if I didn't win anything. This is on the 16th March.

An anniversary present for my boyfriend. We don't tend to get eachother much for this, just a DVD or game would do for him. I would like to win something nice for him though as he has had to put up with me for the past 6 years and a nice present might encourage him to put a ring on my finger ;) . This is on the 14th March.

Finally, a mother's day present for my mum (obviously). This could be vouchers, a new kitchen (yeah right! I wish!) or she has been wanting to get a new DVD recorder for a while so maybe if I concentrate on winning one of those for her. If I fail then I have got some vouchers to cover this one too. This is on 18th March this year.

I suppose I better get cracking and if anyone has got any thoughts on the do I/don't I go to work dilemma then please let me know!

(Pilchard, I will PM you with some sites for comps shortly :D )

See how you feel tomorrow, but if you feel well enough, go in. That way everyone can see you turning up when you feel under the weather. Also as it is possibly a stress response to the hospital appointments, try looking into ways of dealing with the stress for the week before appointments. Something like meditation, alexander technique or kick boxing, what ever floats your boat.

Thanks for that. I think I will go in as I've only got to work until around 1pm. I don't think it is a stress reponse from going to the hospital. Going to the hospital doesn't really bother me anymore unless I know I am having some treatment done. General check-ups and tests don't phase me anymore. I think I would be a complete wreck if they did after the amount of times I have to go there.

It sounds really weird but I actually feel more at home at the hospital than I ever do anywhere else. All the staff there know me and are just so friendly that it's just like visiting friends sometimes!

Anyway, I will go in tomorrow and then see what my doctor says when I see him in the afternoon. Problem solved :D (unless I feel really bad in the morning ;) )
