    Hey stas4949,

I'm just going to PM you, I'm a bit stuck for finding places to go where it's not overly complicated to earn a bit of L$.

Obviously not looking in the right places!

umm interesting link ...quite keen to find out how that bloke became a millionaire though - is he an escort?

I guess it's very similar to being a phone sex line person or something of that nature.

I'd run out of idea's quickly I'm sure and it strikes me that you would have to be pretty inventive to keep your clients interested......

I used to build 3D models of the kind used in Shrek LO-O-O-O-ong before Toy Story came out and he just does that, but he also adds programming routines to his models so if you move on them the bed creaks and moves too...

It really is not that hard to do once you have the basic model and the program written, once written it is yours to lisense out and no1 can modify it without your permission.

He makes his money on licensing fees, though it is rare to make an item everyone wants to own, thereby getting the cash...you have to be lucky :)

Hi, I tried to play second life, I love playing games, and is a good idea that you are allowed to sell your online virtual cash for real money, have had all kinds of problems trying to get it to play, I've even upgraded my pc to try and play! I'm now not sure if it's my internet connection which is too slow for it. Anyhow does anyone know of any other RPG (or any games for that matter) where you are also allowed by the site to sell your virtual money / items for real money? most games I know of don't allow you to sell stuff for real cash (although I know it goes on, but it's not really allowed)......

I play Entropia Universe online and it is a pure cash economy, but you have to figure that if you put money in you are going to lose it down the sinkhole...everything costs money from auction fees to sell (you can circumvent by selling direct) to the decay of all items with use.

If you think you will just play a few days and make a killing, forget it as to learn the game economies of all games takes months...There are a few lucky people who do make good money around such as Neverdie who got in the world news a few years ago by paying a world record $100,000 for a piece of virtual land and now runs a nightclub on it with Lemmy the RockGod visting often to the kid who holds competitions worth $1000s every week to attract people to his land...you have to remember they paid big initial fees or bought when the price was low. They got lucky and it is niave to think you will have the same success.

The main problem with Entropia for making money is that the only free way of making anything takes about 4-6 hours to make $1 initially and doesnt really improve with age of your avatar...you have to invest SERIOUS money to get beyond this point but if you are good you can make tiny profits all the time by satisfying a demand or supplying a product others cant get easily.

You might make a few quid on top of your little black line per month, but you are not likely to get rich doing it ;)

I will give a few tips for making money in this game though which are not going to make you rich but at least set you on the right path lol

#1 ~ DO NOT buy a gun as soon as you can afford it, it takes 6 hours to make the money for one with sweating (basically mindnumbingly boring grinding) and about 5 minutes to expend all your money on bullets, you will not make money by picking up loot at this level. In fact you are guaranteed to lose it and end up right back in the sweating fields just like 99% of people new to the game...work first, fun later sniper.gif

Instead buy a medical kit, you can get one from the trade terminal for 9 PED (ingame currency = $1/10PED) and it lasts literally ages, by doing this it means you are not standing around for 5 minutes to auto-heal and can get back out in the field fast collecting more money..being efficient.

#2 Efficiency is everything ~ If you can drag an extra 2cents from someone for some obscure item but it takes you an extra 3 hours to do it, is it really worth not spending that time doing something else that could reap far greater rewards? By all means get a good, fair price but dont focus solely on the money that you forget about the most valuable commodity which is time.

#3 Knowledge is Power ~ Make sure you read everything you can about the game and you will be doing better than 95% of all newcomers, you will be able to see what is available for you to do (with no money or not all that much) but more than that you will spot opportunities at every corner, I myself have been playing 4 weeks and already got a stockpile of items worth 200%+ of market price which I paid minimum for. If you know the general value of items on the auction and what they go for you can swoop in at the last moment with seconds to spare without wasting time checking Wiki and all the other priceguides, clinch a deal and then sell for profit, if you know buyers ahead of time so much the better...it will make it far easier to shift your stock and get some profit.

#4 Foster relationships ~ If you can get an item to a seller cheap and in regular weekly quantities it is far better to make 10% profit per week than a one time 15% which makes then forget you in moments of turning their back...make sure people remember you and dont be afraid to PM them informing you have some hair gel say for sale at 170% market that they can sell for 190%...you will make far more money this way over time. It will take you a while to find these people but there is no harm in asking everyone you meet if they are regular buyers.

Thats me done for now, any questions feel free to post :)

By the way, the ingame currency is even recognised by Mastercard and Visa who have produced cashcards that you can use to withdraw ingame currency at any worldwide ATM...just be aware of transaction charges lol

I work in dollars for this game as it is simpler, the price per PED is 1:10 to the dollar, with pounds it varies between 14-15 depending on real world exchange rates...so simpler lol

(If you are thinking I am full of crap by the way, I once controlled 80% of the market for a single item in a certain game just to prove money making is simple if you have the right attitude to it...when I sold out and bought some rare items the prices skyrocketed 6M in a week...though in that game real world trading is strictly illegal. I am currently #3 in the wealth stakes of an entire forum of 70,000 people and in the top 0.1% of the entire game as a rough guess)

It is not the money thats important, it is just a way of keeping score ~ Anon.

    Hi Mandi,

Upon signing up, you have your fictional name. Where it asks you for your Real Life First and Last Name, is it required for you to put in your Real Life Name? From quick research, I understand that Second Life does record your IP Address, so I was wondering if you place a false Real Life First and Last Name if you will get banned.

    Thanks.

For this question I should answer as no-one else did...if you dont put your real name how are they going to pay money into your bank so it can be verified?

All details like this are on secure servers with airtight firewalls just as with any bank, it is far safer than throwing away old bills into the bin ;)
