This is such a nice story, just got an image in my head of the cat bringing in all it's little kittens.

Good luck with Cat Protection, I found them totally useless when I tried to report my cat missing to them.

My local CPL have been good so far. They have offered to pay vets bill & neuter the female with only £5 that I have to pay. Shame you found them useless, maybe it varies on areas (like postcode lottery almost).

I think you're right, as they're run by volunteers I think it depends on how good the volunteers are and how they organise themselves. Sounds like they're doing a good job in your area though.
  • Good luck, the cat clearly trusts you to bring her kittens to you!

    That's what I was thinking :-)
    Bless her cotton paws.

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

  • No, she didn't look like a stray to be honest. She is also litter trained. However, she has been coming to my house very regularly and eating like a horse (as if she didn't get fed elsewhere). I will ask the vet and check whether she has been chipped. After saying all that, the owners (if there are any) have been rather irresponsible not getting her neutered.

Hopefully taking them to the vets on Friday to get the once over, wormed and fleaed.. how fun that's gonna be

Pregnant cat can eat for England, we adopted a kitten then found out she was pregnant and she ate half a loaf of bread that wouldn't fit in the bread bin one afternoon
  • Yep - I adopted a cat when I was living with my mum and dad for a short while and it proceeded to have 8 kittens

I was not a very popular daughter as my parents were on holiday at the time.

    How's it all going?
Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...
  • CPL were brilliant when we had a litter of kittens. I had the one i wanted to keep neutered for only £10.00 and the rest were taken away no problem.

Tis going ok. Front room is a bit upside down lol. Just waiting for kittens to poop in the litter tray. they have pretty much mastered weeing in it.

Just hoping my Eppie can be friends.
  • UPDATE

    Names of lodgers:

    Symmetrical - mum

    Odin - male kitten

    Elsie - female kitten

    Babette - female kitten

    * the sex of the kittens is my assumption.. probs change when the vet has seen them :p
  • So are you keeping any of them?

I would love to keep all of them, but dosen't seem Eppie will ever get on with the others & it would be very expensive to be a 5 cat household.

    UPDATE:

Mother & kittens visited the vets today. All is well. Vet rekons kittens are maybe 4 weeks old & it turns out I have 2 males & 1 female, so slight name change required: Babette is now Thor :)

CPL had not contacted vets (as they said they would before my visit), vet tried to bill me for £45. I got a number of sachets of wormer @ a small bottle of frontline flea spray for the kittens. Going to be a major challenge trying to worm the kittens indvidually with the worming powder  . CPL had said it was a simple injection. How wrong they were. Will phone CPL & inform them of the situation.
