  • Just checking in HarryStottle,

    we're all here to help

Hope you're feeling better. LOTS of support and invaluable advice here, even for the most difficult problems....

Seems to me your's isn't too bad.

To you yes, but it IS sortable ok?
  • Thanks insider,

I think I realise that now, it's just the initial process and feelings that people allow to well up.

I work in mental health and really should know better about cause and affect!!
  • Just looking at the times that the CCCS guys reply, normally around midday, I actually feel quite excited now!! I wonder if it is because I have had to take a week of sick and don't have a great deal to do???

Maybe....:rotfl:If they are slow getting back to you or don't give enough advice you could always go to their actual webpage
    http://www.cccs.co.uk
and probably get through to somone faster can't get the link to work, but that is the web address
  • Thanks Laura,

a very good idea me thinks.......
  • you could always phone them you know (CCCS I mean). What you really need is a letter you can send to the debt collectors to establish what debts they are chasing you for - I'm sure if you started a new thread to that effect someone might see it and help you out there.

  • You need to work out how much you have availble for debt repayment (allowing for prices rises and emergencys and everything you can think of) and then pro-rata it between your creditors - once you find out who is collecting what you can then send them the correct amount. I reckon maybe 1000-1100 to pay bills and then the rest to split between your creditors? so maybe 500 ish to be split between them all.
Have you managed to get hold of a copy of your credit file at all?
Also get cracking on starting on your spending diary to focus your mind and try a storecupbaord challenge -use up what you have in the cupboards and only buy what you need to make up meals.

  • Thanks df,

I am waiting to hear back exactly who I owe the money to first, I have just been on the CCCS website but they have no advisor's at the mo?!

I have started a spread sheet to record all of my spending and will indeed use up all that is in the cupboards, should not take long!!

I hope to have this paid off in around 18 months so I'm looking to pay closer to £900 - £1000, I won't need spend money because I'll be working all the time!

Seriously though I am realistic about this and will put all of my resources into this, I'm paid reasonably well so should never have allowed myself to get into this mess in the first place

Credit record is the next move I guess..........
  • hindsight's great isn't it. Seriously though it's easy to get into debt and banks were practically falling over themselves to lend people money. Financial management is not exactly taught well in schools (it might be in a few but they are in the minority).
The trouble is it is easy to get carried away seeing people buying loads of nice things and thinking they can afford it so why can't I - the truth is neither can they but that doesn't always occur to us.
Also the whole economy seems to be built on a buy now pay later basis.
    You are not alone.
