    Hey everyone,

Well, this is NOT the post I wanted to write.

I wanted to tell you that I have filled in a job application for the job of a lifetime (I haven't yet but will be started later tonight though)

I wanted to tell you that I am in the process of finally sorting out the Council tax mix up (that they are now chasing me for with a final notice - they will be getting a strongly worded letter)

I wanted to tell you that I have juggled my finances in a way that means I can pay off the sofa before paying interest on it (it'll be tight - very tight - but I'll cope.

I wanted to tell you that I have been chasing all monies owed including my refund from my car insurance overpayment of 2007-2008 (it's on its way apparently)

Instead I have to tell you that my job is in danger. The CEO of my company sent out an email today saying that 10% of the work force is to be cut. I've been there over 2 years, been promoted, am known by my level and managers alike. However, I get the feeling that nobody is safe, even if I am on the safer side of things.

Oh well, the economic crisis has finally hit home.

That KT is not good news, I think a lot of us are living under the threat of redundancy, it's a very stressful situation to be in. Use the time in the office to research new jobs and skills as well as any other information you require. I know it's not strictly the done thing, but in these unsettled times you must look after yourself.

Eek. I hope you're one of the lucky ones KT. *crosses fingers*

You might want to beware searching new jobs at work - in my job you have to have been notified of impending redundancy before you can research new jobs online from work. Otherwise you can be subject to disciplinary proceedings, so beware!

    thanks guys,
I have a job application for what sounds on paper to be a fantastic job. a communication support worker (like I want, it's a kind of interpreter) working with a deaf engineer who installs satalite equipment. 39 hours a week, some admin, phone calls and stuff and the rest of the time being the communicator in the field (or loft... or roof...) for a salary about £7 to 9 thousand a year more than I am on now.

I would love it (and would cure part of the companies head count problem) I have an application form. Lets hope I can sell myself enough for an interview. I've only ever interviewed for one job and not got it and that was because I threw the interview in the middle after realising I really didn't want to work there.

I think I'll go and look at it again, see if I can't make a start on it.

CV's and stuff I'm not bad at, the bit I'm worried about is the big empty "sell yourself" box asking for all relevant experience and stuff.

Why not put up a separate post and ask for some advice from the crew, I expect you'll get a lot of it, then you can pick what's right for you.

very quick update before I leave till this evening,

As I suspected there is a strange atmosphere at work today.

I just need to write a cover letter and my council tax should (fingers crossed) be sorted out. once and for all.

The sofa I want to pay off today. It'll leave things tight but that's the way it has to be.

I have made a start on the app. I am thinking about the two page box of "sell yourself" and am actually rather impressed at all the things I can put in there. I just don't know how I'm going to word it all. I'll write more notes tonight and then get it finalised over the weekend. I might put up a thread here but I'm worried about whose eyes it might be seen by.

Anyway. My stuff at work is finally working so I'm offski! (and strangely chipper!)
