Hello KTjazz...good luck with your diary from one "what small dfw things have you done today" to another!
I'm in a similar position to you i.e. age and getting mortgage last year...and also an OH who is not the best with money!:rotfl:
I want to hear more about things before I'm 30 list....I love lists and I might do my own!
Lots of love xxxJoint debt with OH at LBM Sept 08 (excluding mortgage & student loan) - £34,069

I have not and never will give up my dots. I was just needing to get the information on the page first. I'm thinking I might go back and do a dot addition edit...
The dots would look very fetching with the lilac text...
Looks like you're going to lead us all astray with your list, should keep you nice and busy and all of us dreaming of mountains to climb

I have discovered the secret to reducing my spending... accidentally leave my purse sitting on my couch when I plan to go to the shops...
At least I discovered it before trying anything on and getting to the till, that would have been embarassing!:hello: - Proud to be dealing with my debts!:j DFW nerd No. 1011!

Sorry, can't find the link to that Daily Telegraph article. However, it said:
For a £100 000 25 year mortgage at 6.5% you would pay £201,507 back.
Overpaying by £50 per month reduces this to £184,031 and 21 yrs 3 months
" " £100 " " " " " £171,315 " 18yrs 6 months
" " £200 " " " " " £156,033 " 14yrs 11 mths
I found this quite astonishing and hope it helps inspire you in your future 'get rid of that mortgage' quest.
best wishes and good luck!

Welcome to tuesday... :hello:
Well after a tough Samaritans shift and a nightmare filled sleep I'm not really feeling all that motivated today. But, as I've gone and started to write it all down I'm going to get back on with it. I don't want to let myself down.
Today
well, I am working my usual 9-5 (or 8-4 in my case) and then for a change heading straight to the gym. My bag is all packed and with me in work. I had been planning to try BodyPump for the first time but I'm just not fit enough at this time. So instead I am going to break myself back in gently with some cardio for 45 mins before going home and getting my stuff together to go to orchestra. Busy night for me.
I have been thinking about some of the things I want this thread to contain. The first is my top tips that have helped me save money so far.
1. to save electricity, label all your plugs. I used the dymo at work to do mine. it makes it easier to go around when you're going to bed and put everything off at the plug that isn't essential
2. Car share!! I can't stress one this enough. I have a full car share now for my 80mile round trip to work and back. It gets 3 other cars off the road and saves a fortune. Think how much lighter the traffic would be in the morning if more people did it...
3. the obvious one, avoid vending machines. take a packed lunch or snack to work.
4. a contraversial one now, get sky+ (or V+). I can record programmes I want to see, always have something on tv worth watching and it saves me and OH a fortune on going out. (not that we never go out at all of course) I also use it for recording signed programmes I can use as homework.
Those are my personal top 4. I know that car sharing and sky+ isn't the right choice for everyone but money saving is such a personal thing that it can help to get anothers top tips.
I think some point this week i'll post my 100 things to do before I'm 30 list... I warn you though, that will be a mammoth post!
Big hugs to everyone!
