Monday 17/11/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

:D When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Today I will:
  • check online banking
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • storecupboard tea, lunch t work
  • swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
  • try not to use car
  • try and have no spend day
  • sort and shred paperwork and add to compost bin
  • make some flapjacks in remoska for DD and OH
Good morning everyone, happy Monday:D
Grey and wet day here today, I have my stripey socks on for motivation:D , hope you all have a good day at work or at home. Hugs to anyone feeling down or poorly - hope you pick up soon.

catch up with you all in a while, have to go and ring an engineer to fix dishwasher at work - feeding 40 at lunchtime and it decides to break down:mad: :mad:
Reduce,re-use, recycle.

  • Morning
    After receiving a horrendous electricity bill two weeks ago and monitoring our usage I see it's costing us £22 a week. So every monday I shall throw £22 into my online savings. Any interest is a bonus.

    Have a good day
    DC.

  • Good morning everyone - no socks for me yet...I'm on holiday!:j

    Came back from a lovely meal at my aunties last night with a rabbit complete with hutch and run! It was a rescue house rabbit, they have had him for a couple of months but he needs lots of love and hugs, they have too many animals to do this. OH fell in love with him and begged me to let me come to ours! They kindly gave us the hutch and run worth £80 and OH has assured me the bunny will be a MSE one....bless!

    So today I will:
    • Write a list of things needed from Pets at Home that OH will get after work
    • Not use any petrol
    • Have a NSD day
    • Not use gas fire in lounge...instead have a lovely warm blanket on the sofa!
    • Do some bits on a website my GP/link worker advised
    • Do a bit of reading/research for job
    • Spend an hour or so wrapping xmas presents (hopefully)
    • Write out xmas card list (hopefully)
    • Phone grandad and friend using free minutes
    • Resarch a cheap hen night/weekend desintation (me, my 3 bridesmaids and my mum are researching two different places each and will meet in January to decide the best and cheapest option!)

  • I was up very early this morning paying money through online banking to my Sainsburys credit card - all others are paid by direct debit;
    Entered a comp;
    Noted in my financial files which direct debits have been paid;
    Tried to pay my mobile bill but there was a fault with the Orange system so I couldn't;
    Bought something on Ebay which will be a Xmas present;
    Converted my Clubcard vouchers into Airmiles - and now have 830 miles so will be ready for a wee UK break at somepoint this year (which I can add to the 18,000 I have with BMI which will allow me to enjoy another)!

    I feel a post-Xmas shopping trip to London coming on to spend some Xmas cash!!!!
    Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

  • Hi everyone, not been on here for a few days as I have been really upset, cant believe it, since september its been one thing after another, dont want to say what has happened as I am scared I am not as "hidden" as I think I am online.
    Anyway, trying my best to get on with life, even though people keep putting me back!
    Today I am
    - wearing thick green warm socks!
    - sat on a wheatbag to keep warm, very comforting and cheaper than CH

    I will
    - phone up HB for update regarding my tenant
    - Phone somewhere for free legal advice
    - give house a basic clean
    - might do some ironing

    Will update later
