Toots - fantastic news. I hope you're having your Christmas dinner somewhere nice with people you love
Johanne & Carol - I agree with Holly. It's the hours behind the wheel that count. I took my test at 17 - my dad made me drive everywhere, including to and from school (I went to boarding school, so this wasn't quite as much practice as it could have been!), and then in the middle of the summer term announced that the taxi service for me AND my brother would stop in the summer holidays (we lived in the middle of nowhere with no public transport)... so I passed at the first available opportunity with a lot of support from my little brother! Motivation and practice will get you through.
Now who's going to invite me round this weekend to use the WM??? I don't actually believe that mine's going to be in on Monday, and I'm running short of nearly everything (I did go and buy new underwear today, which I'll rinse through and dry on the towel rail)... I may not be able to go to the gym next week as what I thought was an inexhaustable supply of gym kit and towels is running low.
soappie - there's definitely something going round here. Most of the men I work with are suffering from terminal, and unfortunately highly contagious, man-flu... I've got swollen glands, headache and pain in my jaw, but the volume of work to be done and the fact that the house is a building site are helping me to keep it at bay by will power I think (please don't tell me that its one of those things that takes ages to build up and then wipes you out... I have time off and plans next week  )
Hugs all round... well done to Pigpen for making everyone think about their good points. Its nice here... not like on some of the other boards...0 -

Top news Toots!
Another busy day in the Ginger house! Bunked off work for a bit (we were on official business - honest!) to go shopping to M&S and Debenhams, (make the most of the discounts!) managed to make some inroads into the prezzie list. Also managed to bake some choccie muffins for one of the teachers who is having a special birthday this weekend.
DD1 had a good night at drama and we have also managed to use clubcard vouchers to get part of BIL prezzie (magazine subscription). So - all in all not a bad day!
Been thinking about the list of 5 when I was catching up on the posts. Here goes:
1 Reasonable Mum!
2 Can cook (a bit!)
3 Usually smiley
4 Friendly
5 Shares nicely with people (unless of course it's chocolate - then it's sharing reluctantly!)
Right - ready for bed in a mo. Am enjoying a nice glass of pink stuff and a sit down. Was awake for 2 hours in the middle of the night last night - so need to have a reasonable night.
See you later!0 -
not caught up yet but just wanted to say well done TOOTS, didn't know what you were going through, my heart goes out to yo with major hugs, not more i can say without crying..............0

Hi I could do with some tips as my house looks like a right hole. I am not very well at the moment my life is hell due to gall stones and feeling down about all the problems that I have.
I will be going into hospital soon, so would like to get my house looking nice before I go then I am not worrying about it when I am there. My only problem is I am so tierd all the time and by the time I get in from taking my little one to school all I want to do is sleep. I set off with my little monster at 8:00am and dnt get back till 9:10 as I have to walk there and back.
If any one can give me any tips that may help I would be most gratefull.
Toot's fantastic news :-) Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.0 -
cha97michelle wrote: »I was wanting to ask you, is Sarah onto proper solids then? What sort of things are you feeding her? Tell me by Pm if you don't want to discuss on here. DS1 didn't eat much beyond purees at this age, but Sam is having all kinds - banana, spag bol, bread, and he has 4 teeth through so should be, but i am struggling with age appropriate ideas as he is only 28 weeks. Any hints/inspiration
Sarah still doesnt have any teeth showingBUT she happily munches on proper food... purees were not a hit - she kept trying to eat my meals instead! So i googled and were trying the "baby led weaning" thing where she just gets given chunks of different stuff about size of my fingers and feeds herself and stops when shes full and so far its a big sucess!
Off top of my head we've had the following:- Mild cheese cut into "cheesestrings"
- banana (although not big hint)
- steamed carrot batons
- buttered toast
- honeydew, galia and watermelon
- Cauliflower
- Broccoli (our FAVE food ever!!
)
- Omellete
- Spaghetti (didnt like the bolognese though so she just has the pasta plain at min)
- Noodles
- Weetabix made with whole milk
- Baby rice cakes
- Rich tea finger biscuits
- cucumber batons
- apple
- pork loin chop (she ate little bits of mine off my plate and loved it!)
- chicken breast cut into strips
- fromage frais (our 2nd fave food ever
)
- fish fingers
- veggie fingers
- oven chips (break any burnt bits off though)
- whole green beans
- baby sweetcorn
- carrot + parsnip (off a spoon)
She is putting weight on fab and the health visitor is happy with her so i dont think were doing anything too badOh just to add we do she does have jars too if were out and get caught without anything else or were home and its getting too late and she wont eat what weve made her she also has baby porridge + baby cereal for breakfast too to give a bit of a change from toast all the time.

Welcome ZLS1984, and hugs for the gallstones. I had my gallbladder removed 18 months ago so can sympathise.
I'd just do little bits as much as you can. Don't push yourself too hard. When's your op?0 -
Pigpen are we talking for adults or kids? The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Thanks for all the help and advice guys - your all fabby!
My only problem is I dont have a family member to take me out anymore, there is only my dad in my who drives and has a car and NO-ONE has ever been allowed to drive dads car except him and the mechanics at the garage when it goes in for a service :rotfl: It was Nickis ExOH who used to take me out and obviously he doesnt live here anymore and doesnt have a car anymore anyway so this time i'll have to just rely on the actual lessons with the instructor0 -

after days of searching I have found one.. minutes after I posted.. instead of looking for 'recommended daily allowance' and other limiting searches I had a bright idea to look for.. 'guidelines daily amounts' .. VOILA!!!!!!!!!! That was infuriating!!
Next time I can't find what I am looking for I'll post here and see if it works! lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
