Best Shopping Centre ?

I've kinda grew up with the Metro Centre and the legendary theme park inside from when I was a teenager. Now they've knocked it down for a new cinema and restaurants which I guess will improve it.
Compared to the Trafford Centre (only other one I've been to), it appears very dimly lit, but the two little villages inside (one is full of independent resturants and the other unique shops) are lovely and a change from the major shops. Of course you've got your usual huge River Island, TopShop and Debenhams which is lovely. Strange we don't have an Apple Store in the north-east either!
Princesshay in Exeter is absolutely fantastic too, even though it's small, it's very very well presented.0 -
absolutley love MERRYHILL on the outskirts of birmingham, l practically grew up in merryhill,10 min away from wer l lived. still the best place to shop in my opinion.:T LLB HONS :T

Trafford Centre and Arndale Centre,Manchester for me.
OT: hubby worked on the Westfields build on shops there :-)0 -
It might be smaller than the huge places many of you are mentioning, but Cribbs Causeway at Bristol is one of my favourites. I can safely go there with my other half and as it isn't too huge and has plenty of boys toys type of shops, he doesn't moan while I do the Christmas shopping!
He groans at the thought of Bluewater, tolerates Lakeside if we walk around quickly (but I preferred this one years ago to what it is now anyway) so I suppose he doesn't do bad - for a man!
Shopaholic? Me? No!0 -
Not been to Trafford Centre , Blue Water or Brent Cross but I do like Cribbs Causeway and Merry Hill as it is free parking. Looking forward to visiting Cabots Circus but the parking seems expensive.Middlers0

I know we all knock CMK.
But as we live there its on our doorstep.
We take it as normal.
We dont really notice just how lucky we are.
There are some FREE parking places + Macdonalds + all the Chain Stores you can want.
But why do we go to these other Shopping Centres you ask.?????
I want something different. I know they are the same stores but in a different place.
Weird really.
After spending 1 hr in the car
Cost of petrol.
£8.00 parking.
£12.00 each food + drink.
We come back with a dress form River Island + a Cardi from M+S. + the Kate Moss dress in TopShop they never had in my daughters size - Phoned CMK to find they had one there.
So summing up all 3 items we could of got @ CMK.
Free parking
£7.00 each on Macdonalds + Costa Coffee + Krispy Creme Doughnuts
Less petrol.
Oh and we all know where the shops were.

I always shop at the harlequin in Watford, and I love it much more than Brent Cross. You couldn't swing a cat in BC for the crowds!0

I went to Westfield on the first weekend when it first opened, it was too busy and didn't really enjoy walking around. Also, I had my eyes on this pair of shoes which were on sale in KG at South Molton Street (central London), but there were no sale in KG at Westfield. I thought they would have sale throughout all the branches!

I would rather go to Lakeside and Bluewater, at least it's free parking and more affordable shops!0 -
I've only ever been in the Metrocentre so can't really compare it to any others, but I hate the thing and much prefer to shop on the highstreet. It's always too crowded, too hot & too noisy and I always get lost, my idea of hell is taking my DD15 shopping there for clothes. Shopping centres just seem to have no soul and they all look the same. My DD however loves it so I guess it must be my age!Dum Spiro Spero0
