never been to bluewater, i thought lakeside and bluewater were the same ?

Blue water is Kent side of the river where as Lake side is Essex side. Lake side feels a bit dated now compaired to bluewater
Nothing to see here, move along.
  • Trafford centre every time for me
  • There is a whopping great shopping place by the M1 in Sheffield (opposite where the cooling towers used to be) not been there myself is that one any good?

That is the meadowhall centre. A smaller version of the Trafford centre and is quite well populated in terms of major stores + free parking.

Shopping Malls are horrific places. I hate that somewhere so huge has been built with the sole purpose of extracting as much money from people as possible. Especially the Trafford Centre. Ugghh.
  • Hi,
CMK stands for Central Milton Keynes.!!!!!

Shepherds Bush Tube is on the doorstep for Westfields.
Its a short walk from the train station then just around the corner is Westfields Shopping Centre and the WIND TUNNEL ....
The only way I can explain the walkway between Waitrose + some outside Food shops
ie Meat + Wine £10.50 for a Burger!!!! Nothing on the side just a Burger ...No Cheese either.
Its a bit weird. a long 15ft wide alley with partial roof covering ( if it rains you do get wet !!!)
I am not a smoker but believe me when you are inside and veiwing the shops + the Village ( the designer stuff) then come outside the smoke hits you its awful.
This lingers for the whole length of the WIND TUNNEL.

Still think CMK isnt that bad compared to Shiney Bling Bling Newness of Westfields.

Look forward to hearing about others....
    Birmingham Bullring.
    Metro Centre
The new shopping centre in Cardiff.

You will! There is no covered walk way from the stations to Westfield and part of the outside bit near Waitrose is only partially covered, I think they did this to avoid having to police the smokers if it was enclosed.

Shocking! will stick to Oxford Street (Main flagship stores for Topshop, M&S, HMV, River Island, Selfridges)- its connected to Regent Street (Apple store, AX, Zara Home, Habitat, Liberty....), Carnaby Street/Kingly Court (unique stores), Soho (cheap food) and also easier for me to get home from (Bus, then train) and likely less traffic.

I haven't really felt that enticed into Westfield TBH, it all seems like a big fuss but with nothing new. I am waiting until they try offering something new. Then I may go have a look.

And that is comming from someone who visits shops to window shop atleast 5 days per week!
  • The size of each individual shop is huge. But the amount of stock each one holds is the same.
ie M+S in CMK + Oxford Street. trying to manouver past displays at elbow widths.
Westfields huge gaps between rails. Enough for 2 or 3 people to pass by easily.
Same stuff as CMK nothing differnet except you can see the floor easily....
    :p
  • For me:

Bluewater - for a 'nice day out'. Nice restaurants, fancy shops, good atmosphere.

Lakeside - now a bit dated, not as nice as Bluewater, but more bargains!
  • The Merry Hill centre in dudley is the best one for me and its massive. Theyve got peter sndre switching on the christmas lights this year on thursday if anyones interseted.

It seems to have all the shops from cheapo to the higher end of the market and its always been FREE PARKING. The Bullring in Birmingham city centre is pretty impressive as well but the parking is quite expensive.
