Hi,
I've just come back from a shopping trip with Hubby + Daughter to the New Westfield Shopping Centre opposite the TV studios in Shepherd's Bush London.
1 word WOW...
What do other members of this forum think??

Haven't been there yet, as when I was last over that way, it was due to open in a fortnight. Might take a look if it's that good! Roll on Spring 2011 when Westfield Stratford City is due to open. Much closer for me! :-)Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I agree- hated the place!
I went the monday after it opened and there were quite a lot of groups of men just hanging around lurking, quite intimidating (for a 20-something female anyway!)
It was HUGE and had no personality to it, I love shopping but Westfield just has something horrid about it, it's sort of soulless!
Add to that the fact that, regardless of how much you spend, they don't validate your parking! We were there just over two hours and it cost £6! personally I think that's extortionate.
I prefer Bluewater.0 -
Trafford Centre near Manchester gets my vote.0

Westfield London - no John Lewis, no Saks 5th Avenue, no Neiman Marcus, no Barneys, no Bloomingdales, no Macys, no Feline's Basement, no Dillards, no Dunnes, no Grace Brothers.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

The Fairhill centre- it's the big shopping centre in Ballymena hey!0

Worst of all no Macdonalds.
I knew something was missing.. was very hungry + a Big Mac was missing.
No
John Lewis.
BHS.
The food inside is very very pricey.
Paid £8 parking.
But believe it or not they have an UGG store with loads of different styles to choose from. All RRP prices though.
Manchester is better everything all under one roof + a huge foodhall including Macdonalds - but further for us to go.
Where do you thinks best + why?

I like Lakeside
Its takes less than 30 mins to get to, free parking, I know where all the shops are so it cuts down on time spent walking around and a 3 level Primark

Stardust,
Your right something else not there Primark!!!!
No Argos
No Hotel Chocolate
No Thorntons.
My daughter wanted a Kate Moss dress for a Xmas Party from Topshop.
Thought we would try the Westfield brand new store. Thinking more choice more sizes. how wrong we were.
Had to call MK and hold the dress till we returned to MK.
On a good note the building itself is huge clean and very trendy.
The toilets are HUGE.....

Am waiting for the january sales before I even try Westfield as I know once I am in a shop, I don't tend to leave without buying something I don't need. Every time.
I do have to say though, reading up in the newspapers about Westfield, I am not having to stop myself from going there:
Poor public transport to and from: apparently its either a long walk to and from tube stations, for tubes that are a long time apart or bus journeys that spend a long long time held up in traffic as the roads have not been revamped to deal with the additional traffic flow. If I wanted to walk everywhere I would go to Oxford Street- more shops there too.
Added to that the "snobbery" around which stores are and are not allowed. They apparently only wanted high end stuff so no TK maxx, no Mc Donalds I can understand. But no Pret?? have they seen the price of Pret's sandwiches? Also no unique stores, or atleast none I cannot find anywhere else.
In view of the snobbery they seem to have, it makes me think twice before going. I am not a chav. I do not dress in an especially bad way (infact I dress quite well I tend to think) but I would worry about me being too downmarket for a center that only has stores that meet some up in the air criterea and vetting process.
I would imagine the posatives are that you wont get wet if it rains.0
