I only had to queue for about 10 minutes and spent the time chatting to the lady in front of me - time went in a flash !.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Come now. Everyone wanted a bargain and went to the shop, so there was a queue. Not complicated, is it? If you didn't want to queue there was always the online option, which was easy, quick and queue-free.
For me the online option was
OUT OF STOCK
UNAVAILABLE COLOURS
AND THEN THE DISCOUNT DIDN'T WORK
AND NOW THEY WON'T RESPOND TO EMAILS
M&S have shot themselves in the foot this time. Total backfire if so many people are disappointed.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Yes I did order online yesterday evening, not with M&S but another retailer whose £43.55 worth of goods have arrived this morning, I paid no more for overnight delivery and received a 10% discount voucher for a future purchase.
If my experience is replicated in only a small percentage of customers then expect the same percentage drop in high street sales.
Bargain and discounts are all relative terms!
I can only agree. John Lewis online ordering is an example of how it should be.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.0 -

I'm glad we didn't make the trip especially, but even so the visit to M&S in Lincoln yesterday was a complete waste of time.
Attempted to find a few items of gents clothing, not easy as the stock was mixed up, many sizes missing and assistants were already not interested at 9:20 in the morning!! Eventually found a single pair of chinos and then tried to pay.
Well faced with a line of close to forty people waiting to pay we decided to move to another floor as we presumed there was a technology problem with only two of the four tills open despite plenty of staff behind the counter. Worse, much worse, on this floor about fifty people waiting. Standing in amazement at one bend in the queuing system another frustrated shopper commented they had been waiting eleven minutes already!
We gave up and left! If M&S can't cope with the custom they generate with such offers they have little cause to complain about poor sales and no commercial right to survive as a retailer.
Am I the only person who feels that standing in queues waiting to pay for things in shops that are complaining about poor and falling sales is maybe one of the reasons for their poor performance?
Poor show M&S.
Well sorry everyone, I completely agree with the poster. They create all the media hype then cant be bothered to have all the tills open. Disgraceful. Personally, after battling all the posh pensioners getting free biscuits, I walked out. I also put my crackers down in Debenhams and walked out as both tills open had managed to get the poor customers to sign up for account cards. This takes at least 5 minutes, more if they need to get a credit rating checked. Ridiculus, on sale day!0 -

In your store perhaps, not in my store, every till and more were open with bag packers at the food section. All staff were cheerful and helpful in every department. I went expecting it to be very busy and it was so I popped back at 10.30 pm and got the various things I wanted and had time to thank the staff for their help :T0 -
No queues in Belfast at around 9.30
even managed to try some stuff on...

My wife works for marks so I get early warning.
We saved a fortune we got 40% off on about £600 of clothes and wine, the three for two offer and buy a meal for a tenner.
Hope you all got down to marks and grabbed some bargains there is a
rumour they may do it again
Regards
