Hi Kim. Welcome to the thread. You will find allsorts of freebies on the web, if you look back over this thread you will find lots of links for free stuff.
http://www.docrafts.co.uk/asp/articles/?page=272
Try this, half way down the page you will find free download for Daisy and Dandelion backing paper and Decoupage, you can make as many cards as you like from this. You will need cards and double sided tape and foam squares. It will just get you started with a project. Look at mine page 107 post 2135
When I first started I bought DoCrafts Goodie Bags, they gave you all the elements and instructions for making the cards. From there its just a case of looking round to see whats available and what you like. If there is a Range near to where you live they have lots of craft stuff and also do demonstrations from time to time.
Feel free to ask questions, we are a friendly lot on here and we help each other when we can.
Don't forget to post your photos of what you make.0 -
Hi Flourgirl.- Ive often wondered about how these free downloadables work!
ie does the quality of the backing paper depend on printer ink and printer?? Also I asked earlier about downloadable images that u print -the card i have i dont think will fit through printer, ie is it the norm to print images direct onto the cards?0 -
You normaly download them as a PDF file, and store on your computer. I use good quality paper (at least 100gsm) for printing backing papers and the cheap photo paper (poundland) for decoupage prints. Just print off what you need. As for printing straight onto the card I have never done that as my printer will only take the thin stuff.0

Right I'm back, I was meant to be looking at creative craft world before their offers finish, but I got sidetracked!! I've just found this site:
http://www.thefruitpixie.co.uk/index.asp
it might not be to everyone's taste, but they have some really different bits and bobs. Its free postage too and I think they were selling 160 glue dots for a quid!!!!!!!!!! I can't think who was after the matchbooks like Rainmac had made but I found this on their site:
http://www.thefruitpixie.co.uk/matchbooks-blossom-1358-p.asp
for 2.50 you get 6 plain matchbooks, some ribbons and fibres, and its available in three options, I thought this was a real bargain!!!
Thanks Melissa have just spent ages on this site (went a bit wierd and ihad to edit my basket about 5 times!) I've ordered the matchbooks to try plus a few other bits. They has acouple of things I saw on qvc and then saw in hobbycrafts so got them from here to try.
Thanks must get to bed now!!0 -
Saveapenny Many many thank yous:A I've pm'd you.
Kim Possible - I've done both, printing directly on to the card and also printed out on to paper then carefully stuck the paper on to the card with double sided tape. Sticking with double sided tape is surprisingly effective and you can always put ribbon over the join! The problem with printing directly onto the card is that I don't get borderless printing and you may need to 'set' the size of your card in the printer. My printer is a deskjet.
I found a good pair of scissors is worth the investment.
I'm not very imaginative so I look in card shops @ what I like then think how I can make something similar but try not to buy anything that would only do for a 'one off' to keep costs down.
Also Utube etc has interesting tutorials.
Hope this helps - if in doubt ask on here we are all keen to share our info.0 -
Marg. When i have printed my backing paper, if I am covering the whole of the front (edge to edge) I cut it about 1" bigger width so that it will wrap round the fold edge and secure on the back. Then on the edge finish off with a peel off border. I think it just gives your folded edge a much neater finish, and the back looks nice too, I also add a label saying handcrafted by me. The labels are done on the free Avery programme.0

Just quickly made this car for the CCC 'warm' challenge
This is the first time I have ever stamped an image!!
I used whisper brush pens to quickly colour it, matted onto red card then mounted onto a gold card (from the nec pound stall!) I have then used two other nec buys from craftworkcards (another fan here!)0 -
