  • :hello: Thanks for the tips.
I had bought one thoese fill own box with card for £5. And at the craft class at the weekend they had scoring board and scoring tool.
I have seen these moderately priced, do u think this would be a good investment?
I like the sound of punching as there was a bit of that in the craft lesson, but online some punchers are approx 7.00 and I dont want to buy and never use much. :confused:Where did u get ur cheap punchers?
    TIA

Kim-possible - hi and welcome to the thread! The first thing you need is some form of adhesive - I use rolls and rolls of double-sided tape, you can get cheap packs from poundland or the 99p shop. You could use pva glue or prittstick, but I prefer the tape. I also use a lot of glue dots which are really good at sticking heavy things onto your card, but you probably wont need those straight away.
The next thing you'll want to get is some card blanks and envelopes, these tend to be quite expensive so a lot of people just fold card themselves to make the card blank. Saying that though there's some great ones here:
    http://www.craftworkcards.co.uk/embellishments_list.asp?type=emb&embellishment=171
50 blank cards and envelopes starting at 5 quid, postage is 1.95 'til the end of the month. A lot of us have bought the scalloped edge ones recently as they make great cards.
A lot of people that are starting out buy a lot of peel-offs which are sheets of stickers, but I've gone off these now. You might like to buy some sheets of patterned paper too, these look great on cards, there are some lovely paper packs about. We all love these 6x6 basic grey ones:

At the minute I always put a little flower on my cards, this is a decent supplier, and its free postage if you order just their flowers:

Lastly you might want to pick up a few lengths of ribbon. Okay - I'll shut up now!!!!

Jailhousebabe - a really funky card, I love the heart ribbon and the image, I am really trying hard resisting buying this range, it looks so fabulous.
Sunrise - great card - I love the castle!!
Rainmac - okay, I'll phone the doctors - stop nagging!! I feel a lot better today - hurrah!!! I couldn't decide which of the legless brads to buy, I wanted to make sure that I had some in every colour, I think I ended up buying about 5 packs!!! I haven't ordered from creative craft world yet, but I am tempted just for the cheap bazzill cardstock - I am loving it at the minute, the texture is so lovely, and the shades that you can get are gorgeous!!
Ct19720 - great easter cards, I love the cute chick!! And the chelsea card is fab too - really bright and colourful!!
  • Jailhousebabe and Melissa75 thanks for the tips.
Ive got card so ill look into the patterned paper.

evening everyone, what lovely weather we've had here today, it was so boiling hot in the sunshine!

sorry to hear it rained so much for your fair sunrise, I bet a lot of people stayed away if it was raining, at least you got some orders through it tho :) i love your big sister card, looks like a fairy castle ;)

lovely cards CT, your easter chicks and flowers are so sweet :)

it's weird how so many people are having problems posting on blogs, I've not had any trouble?

great new cards on your photobucket saveapenny, gorgeous colours :)

Mary - to select the whole of the image in paint, press CTRL + A then a dotted line should appear around the whole image. next, without clicking anywhere (else the dotted line will disappear) press CTRL + C then it will be copied, and you can paste it into whatever program you like. you will need to get rid of the plain birds first though by erasing them, else you will end up with all 4 copied as it sounds like they are part of the same image

Jailhousebabe - love your smirk card, lovely and cheeky ;) and your ribbon looks absolutely fine to me :)

hels - the night garden card is post #1150 of this thread (page 58 for me) :)

I can't remember where my punches have come from I'm afraid :o At creative craft world they have only a small selection, but with 30% off they're a fairly good price. Gorilla crafts also have a good sale on card at the moment, and also have a few punches reduced. I've never used a scoring board and tool, I've just worked with ready scored cards so far as they come with envelopes and work out cheaper than buying them separately (I think). Arty miss also has a sale on now.

I've not used any downloaded images yet, but could you maybe print onto paper then stick that to the card? I'm sure someone else will be able to give you better advice on that one!
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Right I'm back, I was meant to be looking at creative craft world before their offers finish, but I got sidetracked!! I've just found this site:
    http://www.thefruitpixie.co.uk/index.asp
it might not be to everyone's taste, but they have some really different bits and bobs. Its free postage too and I think they were selling 160 glue dots for a quid!!!!!!!!!! I can't think who was after the matchbooks like Rainmac had made but I found this on their site:
    http://www.thefruitpixie.co.uk/matchbooks-blossom-1358-p.asp
for 2.50 you get 6 plain matchbooks, some ribbons and fibres, and its available in three options, I thought this was a real bargain!!!

I sort of remembered when it was posted, so just looked at the pages around that time. I have a strangely incredible memory for useless information lol :o glad it's finally helped someone out :rotfl:

now, when i have to remember something important though, I just can't seem to manage it! :rotfl:

Ive got some basic grey papers I could make you one if you want

Thank you Saveapenny that is a very generous offer but I am just being lazy!!

I actually found a template (somewhere?? where I can't remember!) to make a matchbook but thought I would use a ready done one!!

Will keep an eye out for cheap ones!;)
