Hi all,
I am thinking of applying for this account to get the free £100. Does anyone know if Abbey are using the faster payments system yet?0 -
Hi everyone, I'm interested in going for this offer purely to get the £100 cashback. However, I do not want to mess aout switching my main account so would like to use another. I have an old Natwest step account, which i still have a direct debit coming out of and money going into (albeit not £1000). My question is this - with the natwest account being a step account (one that I got when I was in money troubles that only allows a solo rather than a switch card and does not offer an overdraft facility), would I be able to use this as my switching account? If this is possible then I'd switch the couple of dd's and s/o's and just pay £1k into the abbey account for three months as per the instructions.....
Can anyone advise?0 -
Not swithching my salary just to get £100.
Still waiting on the Coop £100 to come through, at least they did not insist on the account being salary funded.  :beer:0 -

Just had a very quick response from Abbey telling me that they should be using Faster Payments by the end of the year. Off to apply now and enjoy the fun of Abbey.0 -
I want to get the 100 quid from Abbey but I notice that the terms state "available to new Abbey customers only" or something along those lines. Does anybody (PBA?) know whether that would rule me out? I used to have an Abbey bank a/c for many years until last year when they finally !!!!!! me off & I closed it & now bank with CoventryBS & Halifax (although I have several other current accounts that I could use to 'switch' to Abbey...!). So - does "New Abbey Customers" mean those who have NEVER had an Abbey current a/c or those who do not PRESENTLY (or, perhaps, currently... ha ha) have an Abbey current a/c. Any definitive advice appreciated.Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

It's certainly open to existing customers, it's new accounts only. As long as you move your DDs from another bank then it doesn't matter how many Abbey accounts you already have. Heck, most of my colleagues have found some old account elsewhere out of the woodwork, despite having many Abbey accounts already!Does anybody (PBA?)0 -
Many tks, PBA. I won't have any DDs I can switch but, if I go ahead, I will certainly have some specially-created S/Os that I can!Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

Just a quick warning for everyone, if you want a simple account. DO NOT go with Abbey. I opened an account with (i posted the original post) and since then all I've had is trouble. I will be closing ALL of my account with them asap.0
