Angel Yarns not refunding

Hiya
has anyone else had any negative experiences with this company? I ordered some knitting patterns from them (online), paid but only ever received one pattern. They don't respond to emails or voicemails, I had to write and threaten them with Trading Standards before they rang me back, they then said they'd credit my account within 5 days but nothing to date (several weeks later). Any history on them would be appreciated plus advice on how to proceed next. Colleague who worked in Trading Standards previously has said they need categorising as a 'persistent offender' if there is a back history. I know it's not a huge amount of money but if they do this to several people every week, we could be paying their telephone bill!

Hi Savannah02K,
It seems that some others have had problems with that company:
Knitting supplies question
I'll add your thread to that one and move it to the warnings and rip off board later.

oh yes. I bought items from them in the past and they are hopelessly slow and also expensive. They have an active forum so also do a bit of shouting there and get yourself on other forums for knitting. I would never ever use them again. If you used a credit card then you can also claim via your bank and I think that will get them a black mark0

Angel Yarns.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing if only to have known that Angel Yarns are such a poor Web site retailer.
I bought online last October a number of items that were found to be unavailable after my Credit Card had been debited. There are still items available to buy – I’ll qualify that – still available to go through the motions of purchase only once the Credit Card has been debited via World Pay you will not receive the items. I have telephoned, e-mailed and written without reply, more importantly had a refund or even a mention of a refund. Various pathetic excuses have been made during the telephone conversations and are typical of a company in financial trouble. I would recommend you do NOT buy anything from this unprofessional outfit the word business would be to good. I’m also a great believer in What goes around comes around.0 -
Bought a kit online in November, was told the goods were due in shortly, after many phone calls I decided to cancel the order and was told the refund would be forthcoming. Of course, I'm still waiting - calls and letters unanswered. How can they get away with this?!0

but only because I wrote formally, recorded delivery, telling them that this time, with the backing of Trading Standards (and they are very well known to their local Trading Standards) that if they didn't refund my costs (and I detailed them in the letter) within one month, I would be taking them to the Small Claims Court. I added that I had been advised by TS that I had every chance of winning this case and that they would then be liable for my costs as well as having to refund my money. Surprise, surprise, my bank account was credited couple of days ago!
Also, the pair of them (hubby and wife) have set up several different on line businesses:

LiliMay.com

The last one is their holiday villa rental site, yep, like you'd want to rent anywhere from that pair.

I've emailed Bella to say 'shame on you' for featuring this woman and that they should check out this forum and Ravelry etc for knitters true opinions of her rather than the puffball piece she's projected. It's tough enough being a woman as it is without people like her making life even more difficult.0 -
I have exactly the same experience as some people in this thread with angelyarns.co.uk - they have taken the money off my account but I haven't received anything. I knew that the yarn is out of stock but I expected that they will get in touch with me to tell me when they expect it like other online yarn shops do. They took a lot of money from me and I can't retreive it through my bank because I paid with my debit card. I will only be able to dispute the charge after 30 days of the money being taken off my account. I will also send them a letter as they haven't answered calls or emails. I am surprised that they are still operating like this and haven't been penalised as a it seems that they are behaving like this for years.
Is there an authority I can write to and complain about them - I don't think they should be in business if they can't provide the level of service everyone else seems to be able to provide.0 -
How I wish I had seen this before I ordered from Angel Yarns it makes you think you need to check all sites before ordering. I ordered on the 30th November and heard nothing I then emailed and tried to call the number, but to no avale. I paid via paypal and have opened a dispute however I'm not holding my breath on getting a refund or the goods after reading this. Something should be done to stop this company trading and luring like minded crafters onto the site !!!!! I am both disapointed and angree that someone has nicked my hard earned cash0

I would go on the knitters thread to warn other people. I got my goods after a very long time but they are a shocking company and I had to send letter after letter0

Just to say I have linked this post to the 'Knit a Square' thread on OS moneysaving, so noone else gets caught by this!
Thanks for highlighting and hope you all get something sorted out!

I ordered off angel yarns last march and had not receive items in july, i too could not get through to them but then noticed a thread on Ravelry with a contact number on (it was a complaint thread similar experiences to this) I got through on the telephone number and got my refund 3 days later back on my card. I did not keep the number but i will see if i can find it on Ravelry. They had a knitting forum which was connceted to the site and they just closed that down one day without warning anyone, leaving a lot of angry people (but they set their own up and it is miles better.Jan lunch to work days 0/200
