Old Style Thread - Friday 14th November

Hi all - I haven't read the thread even though it's a really short one today. I am glad it's Friday even though I have only done two days out at work! It was very busy today so I was glad to leave and get home to the cooking and washing - what an exciting day! Dinner was stew leftover from Wednesday and a piece of cake for afters. I need to catch up on my own work this weekend - I have a rush job for some typing which I need to get done before I go back to work on Monday.
Anyway, (((hugs))) to all and I hope to catch up properly tomorrow.
I'm going to sit down and eat some choccie now!
Have a great evening, everyone.

I:A
I have found this recipe to be great for cookie cutters, we used it a lot at the creche where I worked.
Jif lemon cookies
4 oz 100g) butter or margarine
3 oz (75g) caster sugar
1 egg
1 tsp lemon juice (could substitute with vanilla essence but less needed)
8 oz plain flour
Cream the butter/margarine and sugar. Beat in the egg with the lemon juice. Fold in the flour and form into a soft dough. Roll out the dough on a floured board and cut into biscuit shapes. bake for 10 - 15 mins at 375F/190C/Gas mark 5. Leave until cold and then ice and decorate.

Well done Taplady!:T
Thats brilliant - I even have all of that in the cupboard.
Thanks very much0 -
Congratulations Taplady...great result.
Churchie...sorry to confuse you....Pink's explanation is more or less right...I'm just no Darina Allen! Amazing how meat cuts seem to be so different between the 2 islands...corned beef was lovely, ended up cooking a chicken to stretch it as DS1, DDIL1 and DGD2 arrived for dinner instead of to-morrow lunchtime as I had expected.
Night all

:T :T :T :T Congratulations taplady!!! That's some result:D
meanmarie, yes it's strange how we call meat cuts so differently, the recipe Pink linked to looked lovely. You can imagine my confusion thinking of the sandwich stuff I buy, which is really quite cheap:rotfl: The first time we went to San Diego we went to an Irish pub ( demolished in Ireland and rebuilt brick by brick and beam by beam downtown) and had the most delicious boxty. My Irish friend, on my return, had never heard of itIn Dublin we had it again in Gallagher's Boxty House and it was brilliant!! She then decided it must be a Southern thing, as she was from Northern Ireland:D
catznine, thanks for putting that recipe up, I've just got some dinosaur cutters, and was about to look for a good *cutter recipe*. You really are coming up trumps for me lately:D Nasi Goreng tomorrow;)
