Hi
Didn't get onto Kofte kebabs yesterday, but it will be the next thing I make. Do they freeze OK?
I'm supposed to be visiting my antenatal group in Birmingham today (dd is now 18 years old) if I can muster the energy. Would drive down earlier rather than later to try and miss the traffic, perhaps try and do some Xmas shopping in Solihull this afternoon as I can't go to destination till 5pm.
OS pays off! will retrieve hm bol from the freezer for dh/ds, so they don't have to use the chippy! My hours are down to 6 from 14, so I'm really looking at ways of keeping food costs down,
Stocking filler suggestions for ds aged 15 would really be most welcome. I never know what to get him, DD is in Mexico, so will only have to do one for her if dh ends up visiting, IF he gets the job there.
Have a good day all.
In reply to this..... having just tried to put onto skewers the answer is they have become very weti added a few bread crumbs to no avail, so have sausage shaped them minus the skewers;) (argh says my message is too short so just oiking it out ).......................

Not a thick question at all, I sort of made it up, but I put a layer of flapjack then a layer of stewed rhubarb, then another layer of flapjack, then cooked as normal, let me know what you think if you try it x

Little one is fast asleep on my lap so typing one handed. My friend who are flying out on honeymoon have arrived only to dash out to get some money in central london.
Heated up my pasta for lunch - was yummy. Baby had mini pasta with tomato, courgette and cheese - she ate it all up! I treated myself to Glamour with the nail varnish attached at lunchtime, I love the colour so very pleased. I also picked up my winnings (£10 from the lottery!) and went to the charity shop for my one weakness... books
I got: Margaret Atwood - The Blind assasin, The No1 Detective Agency, Naomi Wolf - The beauty myth and Kate Atkinson behind the scenes at the museum all for 80p!
Also received my snowflake cookie cutters for my Christmas presents/decorations. The ones I'd seen on Cox and Cox were £12 + £5.95 p&p these were off Ebay same shapes and £8.39 inc postage - pays to shop around eh?
JackieO your GS is so sweet! That really made me smile - bless him.
Candygirl - hugs - really feel for you.
Hugs also to anyone else who needs them

DD has been dropping hints about wanting a "proper dinner so made spicy chicken thighs and legs in the Remoska, roast potatoes also in Remoska and green veg on the hob with some gravy.
Chicken was half price at Sainsbury and potates were from a huge bag in the shed so proper dinner for four cost about £3 at the most for all of us.
Still have a small home made loaf from last night so did not have to use the Panansonic today.
Have ordered some stuff from the approved foods website as I could not resist the bargains - just hope stuff arrives while DH is out so I can squirrel it away before he twigs!!! With stuff like Simple facewash at a quarter of the price and six tins of soup for a pound I "had" to buy it!!Especially as you could get an i pod docking station that is also a clock and radio for a fifth of the RRP if you spent £25.
I feel quite guilty now but it is all stuff that can be used and will save me dashing out if it is icy etc.
Sendng good vibes to penny pincher an hugs to anyone who could do with one.
We are all visiting an elderly relative tomorrow about 70 miles away so will not be able to browse on here for a while."This site is addictive!"

Hello everybody
I am really late today, we have been down to Burnham to a caravan supplier, to have a look at the new vans.I have wanted a caravan for years, but OH wasnt so keen. Well we found one we liked and the price seems right,so we spoke to the owner of a site down in Paignton where we have been a few times visiting friends and she has a pitch for us, so we are wating for a price for siting, haulage, extras, etc. Hopefully she will ring soon.
Ate out AGAIN:eek: lunch time, at a hotel in Weston it was a lovely meal,no pud though.
Got to make some hob-nobs but I think it will be tomorrow now, I am a bit tired, its been a busy day.
I had made pasta bake for tonight but neither of us are hungry yet so will leave it in the fridge,we can have it tomorrow night if we dont eat it later.
Sybil how about Holland and Barrett for the wheatgerm.
Hows PenPin anyone heard?
Kathy hope you dont feel too tired after your busy few days
Candy I feel for you I really do,my sister died suddenly 3yrs ago, and I cried buckets most of the time. An elderly lady once told me, if you feel the need for tears let them come, it will help release the grief you are feeling, and cleanse the soul, and you know....it did.....I still get upset sometimes but I let the tears come, not a real sobbing hurting cry but more a sad rememberance of the times good and bad that we had together. xx
(((Hugs))) for anyone in need, and I hope all the poorlys feel a little better today xx

Evening all
The lodger has decided to stay an extra week, so that's good, she is a real sweetie, I'll miss her when she goes.
I'm double dog sitting tomorrow, my DD & her hubby are going to a concert & don't want to leave them alone overnight, I'm looking forward to having 2 dogs for the night, ones a staffy & the other is a staffy cross.
Hubby & I will have soup tomorrow now, I was overcome with a sudden need for fish & chips and as I knew the lodger was staying another week I treated us to some, £9.90 for 2 cod & 1 chips, eeek, but it was yummy.
Hugs to Candy & Smokey, thinking of you PenPin.
Have a good evening everyone .
Hugs Hester

Evening,
Big hugs to everyone that needs one today.
I am so looking forward to this weekend.
We have had a big tidy up tonight ready for the weekend, I have washed all of the pots (my dw is leaking) and put on two washes. Everywhere looks tidy so I can concentrate on being a real Domestic Goddess this weekend.
I am going to do my menu plan for next week in a minute. I am going to include a few new recipies (although all my cook books are packed away so they will need to be off here).....
I think I will make some biscuits tomorrow with the kids as we have some new Thomas biscuit cutters - anyone have any good recipies?
I think I might have a look for that famous hob nob recipie too.
Must think of something different (and cheap) to do with the kids this weekend....... They will drive me loopy if we don't get out and do something.
I had a bit of n OS disaster the other day - we decided to make HM burgers and my OH who now seems to think he is Gordon Ramsay said we should split the mince and see whose was nicest:j But..... he did his all plain and boring and I thought that I would do mine a bit spicy and I added some garlic and chilli, but I added too much and mine was too hot...... His was gorgeous but he would only let me have a bit as he was so smug:mad:  Next time I will make ones that you can eat without your eyes watering. I think that I might invest in a burger press think. Might pop off to e bay to have a look see.
Candy Girl - I don't blame you for being so down and there is no one who can make you feel better but it will get easier... I promise. When my mam died I was numb for ages, I think it helped that my dd and ds were so young because I had to pick myself up and carry on. Even now, 3 years on, I still get upset at random times.... i have found myself crying while driving to work. TBH though 99.9% of the time, I am ok and I think of all of the happy times we had. :A0 -

All answers sincerely appreciated.
Also how else to add goodies to home made bread for little bear?

Taplady...hope that DS1 gets some work soon, heard yesterday about somebody I know having to take a pay cut and a couple of people being laid off from the same company so it seems to be all over, trouble is here that people have got so used to walking out of jobs to-day and starting another to-morrow while we were enjoying the Celtic Tiger influence that it is going to be a problem coping for young people who have never had to think about what they spent.
Thanks Marie!
rage in eden - hope you soon feel better x
JackieO - I hope your GS enjoyed his 18th!
I got my exam results today for the anatomy and physiology exam I took last week and I got 91 and a half percent:j which is great !:D
DS2 did well on his days work for his ex teacher, earning £35 which he is really pleased with.:T
Sybil - I have got wheatgerm form our locsl health food shop or I think you can get it from Julien Graves or most supermarkets in the baking isle.
Have a nice weekend all!Do what you love :happyhear0
