Many kids go through uni without help from their parents - in fact, at my uni i only knew a lucky few who got help. we just student loaned/overdrafted ourselves up to the eyeballs and got part time jobs. My student loan hangs over me now but thats just the way it is. If your kids want to go to uni then they need to weigh up whether THEY can afford it or not. They're adults and it shouldnt be an extra burden for you to bear.

  • You are quite right roxie, I know in my heart you are. It's just that sometimes when i'm down in the dumps, or one of the "kids" are, I feel guilty and inadequate for not being able to provide assistance or a normal family life, what ever that is these days.

I sometimes wish I was a catholic like my ex's family, a few Hail Marys or even Bloody Marys may help to absolve my sins etc

Mrs P you came on here for some advice and support and I hope you got both from this wonderful MSE community.
Sometimes answers are clearcut and path to take obvious. Yours was an awkward problem, that you had to resolve, with some helpful options suggested here.
Be content that you are trying your very best and enjoy those Bloody Marys when required! :rotfl: :rotfl:
