No email today. I'm off to bed. Just remember tomorrow is another day*.
* - My entry for the most useless quote of the thread contest0 -
Presumably not many people will be logging into the Icesave site in the small hours say from 24:00 - 0600am so why can they not send out some emails during the evening to enable 'night birds' to do the deed during the quiet time?
They seem to only send them out at set times during office hours.
I would also love to know how many 2nd emails they have actually sent, we have heard 10,000 per day, 10,000 per week, 50,000 in total, and what the media guess or make up.:mad:0 -

...thanks to Colonel Darling !
Do you mean Capt. (Alistair) Darling from Black Adder?
Edmund Black Adder, would be a great asset on this thread:
"This is a large crisis. Infact, if you've got a minute, it's a 12 storey crisis with a magnificent entrance hall gliding throughout and a sign on the roof saying "This is a large crisis." We've been sitting here since October, during which there have been millions of inbox clicks and we've moved no further than an asthmatic ant with a heavy shopping bag. As for Ms Minghella and crew they're about as effective as a cat flap in an elephant house."In memory of Chris Hyde #8670 -

I seem to remember years ago when I worked in pharmaceutical research that when dealing with random allocation of drugs in clinical trials I had to consult special tables of random numbers. What the general public loosely describes as random or a lottery is not the same thing as true randomisation which is - as casbiosca points out - difficult to manage. In my opinion there has not been nearly enough time to do this.
I am beginning to think that the initial trial run of 10,000 was done not only to see whether the system worked but also to find out how long it would take on average to complete the process (which we now know is 4 minutes) and also what percentage of people with fixed term accounts
would opt for immediate payment.
In order to achieve those objectives they would need targeted groups with multiple accounts of different types. I would search the database by type of account, extract the 10+ possible permutations and take a sample of up to 1,000 from each. Each thousand could be selected by postcode and alphabetical order with names from the beginning, middle and end of the alphabet. Whatever the method of selection within the targeted groups, this was not a random sample of people.0 -

Unfortunately, due to lack of government funding, Loretta has not fed the poor creature in the last 24 hours. Please be assured though that your money is safe and secure.
Minghella wants to feed it real ale and curry, that would really speed up the selection process. In memory of Chris Hyde #8670
