brilliant ideas on this thread, I think I've just found another idea to sell at a xmas fayre!! Think I might make bags of gold, might make them more cost effective as a selling idea. They would make really good gifts as well....... am I gonna have time to actually go to work in between making all these wonderful things?? LOL :rotfl:
You're so very special, I wish I was special

  • I'm really late to join this thread but just wanted to say how brilliant it is! I've never seen this sort of thing before and as hubby has had his birthday present early I've decided to give this a go. It's not finished yet but I popped into B+M today and they have gorgeous kilner type jars for 99p or 2 for £1.50. They are quite large but it is fo my husdband so don't mind too much. So far I've got chocolate coins, werther's, thorntons champagne hearts and a wispa gold. The jar is big enough to take a crunchie and other gold coloured bars too. I hope he likes it :/

Just bumping this up for those who maybe didn't do them last year.

I did, so Im opting for pots of snowballs this year -some of them are empty tubes covered in felt and trying to resemble snowmen now waiting to be filled with marshmallows or bons bons.
Empty mayonaisse jars (perfect with the white lid) are for bath bombs or marshmallows.

Mary I know you posted this a while back and may have finished, but today I saw in my tesco these balls of cadbury chocolate covered with a white shell (like smarties I mean) They come in large bags. But I forgot to look at the price of them - sorry. But they're called snowball of something like that.

moneysaver - thanks..............must get to Tescos (we've actually got one !!)
Jars and tubes are still empty -was afraid of putting marshmallows/bon bons or anything 'snowball like' too early in case they go a bit 'off' but these sweets sound like they'll be ok -I'll keep them in the packet till December though just in case. At least I'll have got them all ready.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

just had a thought , in hobbycraft they've got gold bags ( well they've got gold swirls on ) I think they're to put wine in but they're not as tall as wine bottles , at the moment they're buy one get one free, I was thinking of making bags of gold to take to my in laws for christmas day
    they might be ideal ??
  • This is the Pot of Gold I made for my husband's birthday. It's huge I know and I've got tro put a couple of scratchcards in and a lottery ticket. It's the first one I've made so I'm pleased with how it turned out. My 8 year old however, loved it. He wants smaller versions of these instead of crackers for Xmas Day

(sorry about the small size, no matter how many times I've gone through the size thing on photobucket it was either this or huuuuge!)
