Panny is making dough for a small loaf and a few rolls to be baked in the Remoska and a huge load of pea soup is in the slow cooker for tonight.

DH is officially on holiday but spending it at home so swapping bits of info and sharing pots of tea, very OS except info is from the computer than the radio or paper as in the old days.

Meant to go to the market to get free range eggs but it is such miserable weather I could not face it.

Hug to everybody and Good luck to PennyPincher.

    Sybil

You could not possibly let little bear down so please don't torment yourself - you are obviously a very good mum who thinks the world of him. Big hug.

Lamewolf - hope that you are feeling a bit better now x

Sybil - well done you on taking LB out to meet your friend and for braving mums and toddlers. These groups feel intimidating to everyone at first, please persevere, it won't be long before you make some new friends to chat to whilst LB plays, and if nothing else, the peace when you get back home because LB needs a nap will be worth it! Or that might just've been me, I can still remember the bliss of a cup of tea in peace after toddlers whilst the children slept!

    :hello: Good afternoon!

I too have been having problems with the site - hopefully all will be sorted out soon. Perhaps it's because the site is increasingly well-known so more and more people are trying to access it at the same time?

I have a cold - thankfully no sore throat now though, I did have to begin with but it went quite quickly. it odes make it hard to decide what to cook as nothing tastes right:p but never mind, it'll be better soon.

Wannabe Sybil - Well done for going to meet your friend, and to Mothers and Toddlers! it sounds as if little bear thoroughly enjoyed himself. So sorry that you didn't enjoy M and T, but if you can persevere you will make new friends. (((HUGS)))

betheebee - 22 people staying , you are so brave! I hope all goes well and that you manage to have some "me time" among it all.

squiggly - ((((HUGS)))) to you, I hope the lump clears up on its own, and Floss2 -((((HUGS))))) hope yours can be sorted quickly!

Hardup Hester - at your stupid doctor! I do hope you can find a better one. I remember a friend of mine saying that if she went to hers with a sprained finger he'd try to blame it on her weight  I hope things improve on the work front for your OH (and for you, of course!)

AussieLass - glad to hear that not only do you now have a decent road but that Old Sourpuss has gone!:D

mioliere -I hope you enjoyed being back at work and that it didn't feel too strange - hopefully you soon felt as if you'd never been away:cool:

((((HUGS))) to everyone who is ill, or has ill family members, has been made redundant or otherwise going through a tough time atm.

OddjobKIA - what a good idea to get some laminate each week - purpleivy's advice is sensible, but I think I too would find the money got spent on other things:o

We went to Mr S's this morning - hadn't been to our nearest big branch for ages, but have got fed up with parking problems at the local supermarkets - the Tesco and Co-op in the town next to ours have closed, leaving the poor residents with Iceland and Lidl, so they have to come to our supermarkets for the things Iceland and Lidl don't stock. Their Tesco site is being redeveloped, so they will eventually have a much bigger one, but not until 2010, and Morrison's is taking over the Co-Op's site but have found the fabric of the building needs a lot of repairs. That means that instead of taking 4 - 6 weeks to refurbish the place, they are now talking about late 2009:eek:

Anyhoo, I was not happy to find my two favourite brands of instant coffee had both gone up by 20p. I didn't get any - will see if Lidl have any of their Highland Gold in stock tomorrow instead! Tissues seemed dear too - is it because so many folk have got colds, so they are taking advantage ;) (pity we don't have a "tongue-in-cheek" smiley :D ) I did get a big pack of turkey breast fillets which wll make lovely curries. There are a few interesting-sounding turkey recipes in our diabetes cookbooks too, so will do some experimenting once I can taste things properly again. One of the things we went for was drawstring swingbin liners, only to find them repackaged "using less oil-based plastic" so have had to hope they are the right ones, as they are now sealed in an opaque (plastic) bag instead of just having a paper sleeve round them:rolleyes: . They were on "3 for 2" so DH put 3 packs into the trolley. I pointed out that we really didn't need three, as just one would last us for 10 weeks, and the other packs would just be in the way with no room to store them, so he put two back :D

The WM is on with its second load of the day - where does it all come from:confused:

Dinner was going to be gammon, but we are going to have breadcrumbed chicken fillets and oven chips instead :o as I can't taste much anyway, and DH's back is painful, so we are abandoning the healthier diet for today, in hopes that we'll both feel better tomorrow!

    All for now

    Morning all,

Redruby, I got a CK Christmas bag in our MrT on Sunday :)

Ohhhh I must resist, I have three already, which I dont want to use in case I ruin them :o , although I might just pop in there tomorrow :D :rotfl: .

Hope you feel better soon, and the lump turns out harmless

  • Evening,

just embarking on typing my office-letters for the evening, thought I would drop by. Car collected from garage, bill of £293 (as I was bracing myself for about £400 it doesn't seem so bad, lol!). Youngest DD has just done sausage, HM mash & sweetcorn for everyone for dinner, bless her. I think at 12 she's doing pretty well in learning how to cook OS styleee :)

Sybil, as others have said you are NOT letting LB down & sounds to me like you are making great progress. Well done!! And you can only defrost the chicken & see what it's like; nothing to lose by doing that...
Thank you Floss, that's reassuring (I'm more worried about things hurting than anything else at the moment..). And feel happier having gone to the doc too.
Redruby - you NEED those bags, lol.....
Hester, hope you get some proper support at work soon. And your OH gets paid properly.
Kathy, hope today went well?! :)

(((hugs)))) to all those feeling poorly, sad, worried or just needing one.
    xx

Site seems to be behaving a little better this evening.

  • Hi everyone

I hope everyones had a good day...

I have changed my user name from sickofhavingnomoney as I felt like my new name would inspire me a bit:D I even have a new picture so I feel like I should be joining in all the challenges and being as OS as possible.......... Lets hope it lasts

I've not been on for the last few days so i am going to have a look around the site and check out what I have missed. There is so much going on here and I don't want to miss out

I have nice pot of HM lentil and split pea soup simmering on the hob, ready for lunch tomorrow, I love making soup but I am not very adventurous. I might try out some new recipies at the weekend:T

Not much to say today as had no time since last weekend and we all have been ill so what time I have had, I have just wanted to curl up and snuggle. Both dd and ds have been off school this week, poor things. I hate when the kids are ill as they just look so sorry for themselves all the time.

Still waiting for our moving date - apparently the kitchen fitters messed up the worktops and have had to order some more. I am so frustrated and fed up as my dining room is filled with boxes and whats not packed is in a mess as there is no where to put things

Anyway no more whinging for today

    see you soon

Hi there. What a short thread!

Thanks for all the good wishes for today. It went really well, wasn't too busy and the time went quickly but it's been a long day! I've only skimmed the thread and will try and read it properly in the morning. Hope everyone is well and (((hugs))) for those who aren't.

Dinner was a blur of HM pie from the freezer with chips and gravy and I was starving so I really enjoyed it. I've just sorted out the washing onto the airer in the spare bedroom, had a bath and will have an hour's sit down. I have to get up early because DH's car is having some work done tomorrow so we have to go to the mechanics in both cars, then he will have my car for the day. I hope he remembers to pick me up from work!

    Have a good evening, everyone.

    Hello everyone,

Don't think I've ever seen the thread this small before. Everyone must be busy. ;)

Our carpets were cleaned yesterday. The colour hid red very well. It doesn't look much different but you should have seen the water. I shudder to think what it was like when he was doing YS house. I'll trot down there today with DGS to see how it came up. Spiders should be dying as I type. :D DH saw a big snake on the way home yesterday. He won't be taking any shortcuts in the long grass in future. I never do. I have more sense. ;)

Plans this morning are to make a loaf of bread & some pizza dough. Having Pizza for tea tonight. All my toffee's have melted in my vodka, so I"ll strain that and pop it in the freezer after I've cleaned it out. Hate that job. I've got to vacume upstairs as he told me to do this to bring the pile back up. DGS arriving after lunch so will do some activities with him this arv.

    Sleep well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
