Are they a lot of messing around? Can you direct me to a good recipe please? What do you serve with them?

Morning all - hugs & kisses to all in need, or even if you don't! :grouphug: :kisses3:
Chickenpox baby back to his normal self, apart from the spots - he's wrecking the table whilst I do this!
Hardly any work for me this month, & nothing in December, so belt-tightening a bit more. Got to go through stash of pressies & wrap/label today, write the cards I've made so far & get stuck into some more tonight.
WM done now, but looks grim outside & forecast not good, so they'll be on the airer or in TD.
Got some sausages in fridge (since Sat from local butcher), so hoping they'll be OK for tea today, leftover lasagne for DS & baby for lunch.
Off to summon up enthusiasm for w/up, see you later.
    A xo

    :hello: Good Morning!

Don't you just love the way these threads can all connect up! Like a giant dot to dot puzzle! :D
After joining the Grocery challenge (£50 this month!) I popped over and joined in the Storecupboard challenge, using up what I had was going to go a long way towards me meeting my target. Then over to the Slowcooker thread, which made sure I put something into the slowcooker, in the morning while I still had some energy, took a peek at the Menu plans for some ideas, over to the Remoska thread to get more ideas and a reminder to use that. Had a quick look at Weezls thread for some more moneysaving ideas, likewise Thriftlady's wartime thread! Phew! Just need to look in on the Flylady thread for some de cluttering/cleaning inspiration and I'm done (or done for!:rotfl:)

Seriously thank you all :T for all the inspiring ideas, I need them all this month to keep to £50 limit.

    Breakfast - Porridge and banana
Lunch - hm lentil soup and hm bread
Dinner - Quorn bolognaise and pasta, trifle

    Have a lovely day!

(((hugs))) to those that could use one

...... The lump could be an infected cyst, so I have a week's worth of antibiotics. I still have a feeling/worry I will end up having someone shove a needle in it if it doesn't go away......

Hopefully whoever has to do that will be as good as my boob man - he's well into double figures for me, he doesn't hurt & I don't even get a mark where the needle goes in. If that happens, please don't worry about the colour of what comes out - it probably won't be what you expect!

I'm off to see my GP as I've got another one - will need to explain again why I don't want to be referred to our local hospital but need referring back to my old town

    Right, very busy day today:

    brekkie - Y/S croissants :)
lunch - h/m soup from freezer
    tea - whatever I see that's y/s!
Need to mix up christmas puddings, dyson through the house, make frozen fruit jam, clean the bathroom, tidy up my heap of clothes, go & pick up free EA eyeshadow compact, call at opticians & ask them to sign form so I can get £40 towards my specs from work, go & visit Mr T / Mr M / Mr S......

Good job I'm not back in work until Monday!

Have a good day all - my bath awaits ;)

    Floss x

P.S. Forgot to add, the site keeps playing up for me too - blank screens, lost posts, Martin's 'glitch' message etc. Hopefully the boffins will get it sorted soon!

  • Morning All,

I think I need a kick up the bum to start my Christmas shopping now I've remembered that the temp agency I do work for still owe me £200 in holiday pay, which I got round to requesting yesterday:T.

I was supposed to be having lunch with my best friend today, but we've had to postpone as it's chaos where she lives and there are a pile of roads (apparently because of a bomb scare at the local McDonalds, typical finally some proper gossip and we can't get to each other).

Dinner tonight, I think it's time I dug all the cheap fatty bits of Lamb out of the freezer that have been languishing these since we bough a 1/2 lamb with MIL, so with a bit of trimming they'll make a great slow cooked Lamb Rogan Josh which will probably be enough to give us dinner and 2 frozen ready curries for the 2 of us.

Hope you all have a good day.

taplady I do that with anyone with young children, just buy for the children, my very good friend had her first last year so she's now included. My sister and I (not that we are really speaking at present) have done it for years.

HH ((big hugs for you and your DH)) I remember the stress when my partner was out of work, it's happened again since but when I was pregnant with DS1 was the worst, was working 16 hours most days, some days it was a relief to go as he was so down about not working.

I'm not usually online so early and rarely post on here because of that but today I have DS2 off school (thankfully stopped being sick but not 'right' the other way) and DS1 goes by taxi so not had to leave the house yet. Dogs have just been in the garden so far, will take them out when DP gets up as it's saving laundry leaving DS2 in just pants, dogs won't be impressed if we have to dash back because he needs the loo. They're quite understanding actually for dogs, they know when DS2s not gone to school not to stand at the door going crackers wanting to go out first thing as I usually walk them as soon as I get back, if he's off I wait for DP to get up then take them, they've got into the routine aswell. They have had a dash around the garden which is a bit like a wildnerness because my lawnmowers broken (DP hopefully can fix it but lost his temper when trying yesterday) and are now snuggled asleep, lazy things :rotfl:

Today, I think baking with DS2 while he has bugs is a bad idea, so I am going to have a cupboard search inspired by catzine's post, I do need to use up this month more to do with clearing out some stocks than cash flow but it's always nice to save money too, I have loads of coffee in now so that's the essential expensive item sorted :D I have a mountain of bread flour with Dec 2008 on which I am very aware of, but there is 2 cupboards full of foods of some description and could do with knowing what is there and what not to buy. Other than that housework and keeping a 7 year old entertained who seems to be ok in himself will be todays challenges, got some mending to do aswell, I don't like sewing......

I have started my Christmas shopping, unfortunately I end up spending a lot, not on my family usually but my partners who are all 'older' spoil our children but have none of their own. Example Great Aunty/Uncle who never had children etc. DPs step cousin (I think that's the right title) they have 2 little ones who we now buy for instead of the adults there but it's still a lot and it's not like I can just buy them anything, drives me mad every year because it's all left up to me and ends up costing a small fortune. I blame it on it being a smaller family, there is my much larger family who we buy for very little because there has always been the understanding that it gets too much, I buy for Mam, Dad, neice, nephew and chip in with the rest for Nana's present, either a very large gift she needs which more of us chip in for or a few of us get something smaller she needs, that way we can get her things like a cooker or a TV without breaking the bank. Oh I also buy for my best friend's little boy, purely out of choice :) very important to me that little one as some of you know.

Oh does anyone have a good fool proof bagel recipe? I can't find the one I used last year xxx
One day I might be more organised...........

Out last night with DD1 as her school are opening a sixth form she knows what she wants to do so that is good but they are not offering one of the subjects the local college is but it will be her science teachers doing the biology and chemistry so that is a plus as they know her well after 5 yearsand these are her strongest subjects so decisions need to be made by her as we forced her hand with her options we said that this decision will be hers alone.
Breakfast and lunch is YS muffins and dinner is pork strips onions cooking bacon mushrooms and a variety of herbs and stock in the SC.DWand WM are on will go and peel spuds while watching tv.

    Morning all!

Grey, gloomy and foggy here today, so have returned to bed for an hour with a cuppa! BM on with dough for rolls and dw unloaded and reloaded, kitchen cleaned, things tidied, just need to have a quick hoover, but it can prob wait till the kids get home and whoever is on the rota can do it then!

Got a friend round for lunch, so planning to make some carrot soup, thanks squiggley you reminded me that I have some coriander in the freezer (huge bunch that was ys!), so will serve that with the bread rolls.

Kids took ham sarnies, fruit, carrot sticks, scones and a mini choc thing (big multi packs were reduced in Mr T's, so I treated them!).

Dinner tonight will be whatever leaps out at me from the recipe books, want to try something new as I'm not working tonight and the kids are all here, rather than all over the place.

Thought I was meant to be helping at school this afternoon, but apparently it's tomorrow! Doh! Not much else planned other than some gossiping with my mate over our lunch. Hope everyone has a good day.

Squiggley, hope the cyst is ok and not too painful.

Cheapskate, hope your lo is starting to recover from the spots now.

Hester, hope something is happening with Occ Health, and that things pick up soon for your oh workwise.
