Morning all,
Misty rain here and a very grey sky so would think it will last for the day...not at all cold.
No boys to-day so am going to shop for curtain rails for landing and DGS's bedroom, need to get curtains up before it gets too cold.
Bought 8 lbs neck of lamb this morning, have some of it in oven at low temperature, will add garlic, onions, turnip and potatoes later on for a handy dinner, will also bake some apples to graze on so that I stay off the bread!
Still haven't sorted my present stash so that I can decide who is getting what for Christmas, should get to it this afternoon while there are no small people around...list is 30 odd long....7 children, 4 partners, 5 grandchildren, Ulick, brother, nephews, sisters in law, brothers in law, cousin and wife and a couple of neighbours...some of them are just sweets, biscuits or the like, but it all adds up.
Hugs to all in need or want, welcome to any newbies to-day, congratulations to those who are celebrating, thank you for being my friends
Marie
Have been checking electricity usage for the past week and am not happy...need to use 11 units or less each day to keep my bill below €75 per month, which is all I can afford, last weeks average was 12.7 per day....DD4 did turn on immersion and forget to turn it off the other day so hopefully next week will be less, would like to get it well down to save for high usage time when all the children and grandchildren are here.Weight 08 February 86kg0 -

Afternoon everyone. Day off today and its chucking it down. I was in the butchers earlier getting a dozen free range eggs, they taste so much better than super market ones. While I was in there I ended up talking to a old woman re different cuts of meat, had a very interesting chat with her and the butcher re beef shin. I'll be getting some next week for sure. The butcher asked her if she knew it took longer to cook than stewing steak and she replied 'I go back a long way dear.' Made me chuckle. Turned out she used to breed pigs, now theres an idea.
Spent too much in the supermarket, again, told OH its crazy we spend so much and need stick to meal plans, she says she does, but they are in her head, need to get them written down & stick to them.
Have a good one everyone.0 -

It might be better to save your money for the next 9 weeks and buy your laminate on the 10. COlours may vary between batches, also they may discontinue what you are buying. Worst case scenario the company may go bust!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

we have tried doing that before and the money saved goes elsewhere..
we are only going to buy the cheapest laminate which is the same in both B&Q and Focus so have the choice of two shops..and as batches are printed in the millions of packs We wil take the risk of colour variation..
Thanks anyway:oTHE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0 -
Afternoon all.
Looks like I have to make some bread rolls today..... I didn't feel well after I'd had my bath and dressed this morning, so I flaked out on the sofa and let Mr LW get himself organised. When I finally made it to the kitchen, a couple of hours later, the BM was on the kitchen table - it usually lives on top of the fridge-freezer, as we're short of work space. So obviously the lovely man wants some more rolls made.:D
I'm doing a bit better with meal plans than I was. I've enlisted Mr LW's help with it. Not doing a week at a time as such, but keeping a sort of rolling list in my PDA. Weekends seem to be hardest, as we can't ever be sure exactly what we'll be doing as regards shopping etc. Also, it means if something is awkward for me to do, Mr LW can do it the night before for me, like cutting up root veg and leave them in water ready to use.
Also got a note to self in the PDA to put my summer sandals away in the wardrobe and put winter footwear on the shoe rack, handy for use.
We also just received the DVD of "The Colour Of Magic" from Amazon that I got £5 off courtesy of a voucher from a survey site - we may watch that this evening. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I took little bear out yesterday to meet with a friend. Today someone from the Health Visitor came to take me and little bear to a mums and tots. Now, I was terrified I would let little bear down, and I was worried I would say or do the wrong thing. Little bear was fine and played happily and well. He just ran and played and ran and played for two hours.
So he is asleep, I am exhausted. I just want to cry from all the stress, none of which came from little bear.
So apart from keeping the washing machine 'fed' I am going to abandon all thoughts of OS after I have decided what on earth I am going to do for tea. However, if I get round to it I am going to be making a list of all that I have in cupboards and freezer and try and get that sorted out.
Also, I bought a huge bag of frozen chicken portions, value brand, when I was trying to wean little bear. He was unimpressed. That is 18 months ago. Are they still safe to eat? I mean in a casserole or similar? I have heard of people eating mammoth steak in the Arctic, but that is not quite the same as value brand chicken portions.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Hugs to all!
Good luck Bethebee - faced with your weekend I would have no hesitation in leaving the country.
Jorgan - shin beef is beautiful, really tasty, but you need very long slow cooking. I often chop pickled onions into a casserole with shin beef, or pickled mushrooms if I ever get round to making them.
Hester - wishing you luck, fingers crossed for your dear heart.
And wishing all those suffering luck and health.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0
