January 2006 PMS Challenge

I'm not going to copy out the full instructions this month; however for any 'newbies' the full instructions can be found by clicking this link:-
For the January PMS Challenge I'm going to link to some past threads in Old Style which may be useful/food for thought when striving to see how you can accomplish *any* possible savings having just had the expense of Christmas to contend with!
(some timely winter tips are included)
If lured by the temptation of the "Sales" - you might want to consider setting up a gift cupboard/box/hideyhole and may find this link helpful.

Wishing you all a happy (and prosperous ;) ) New Year!

:rudolf: Merry Christmas Jazzy - thank you for your insightful, constructive and most helpful comment.

Yup, I can understand why you might think so ... however, the PMS Challenge (Pin Money Savings) usually begins *before* the 25th of each month (depending on people's monthly salary date) so, in actual fact, I was late in posting it :o (Thought it was kinder to the regular PMS'ers to wait until *after* Christmas Day but in time for the sales ;) )

Then again, we have other regular PMS'ers who don't/won't start the challenge until the 1st of each month (or thereabouts).

Sorry if it "threw" you a bit, jazzyjustlaw; didn't want to let the regulars down or discourage any 'newbies' to the challenge by beginning it after they've wiped out their budget on any sales.

Ho hum - can't please everyone all the time - aim to please some of the people *some* of the time.

I'll go an find the bucket to sink my head into now - you're comments came at such a prophetic moment ;) I thank you!

Am aiming for £25 this month. I have set myself VERY clear guidelines on what is actual and what is virtual as last month I got a bit over enthusiastic and out EVERYTHING into actual  This time is if it for something I would not normally buy it goes into virtual. Most of the treats for xmas end up in this one if they were BOGOF etc. Fingers x'd for target.
    WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbs
    Weight today = 17st 6.5lbs
    Loss to date 32.5lbs!!!
  • Sorry I think it just threw me as its Christmas. I realised after posting was going mad! Hope I didnt cause offence.

I am grateful to you Queenie for all your posts. I am a keen observer.

    Have a happy new year.

  • I think I'd better 'come out' and declare myself. I'v been doing this for a couple of months on the quiet and been quite surprised how much I've saved. So here goes - I'm aiming for a about £20 for January.
Books - the original virtual reality.
