Aiming for £50 apms for January.0

First PMS for me was "born" yesterday (bear in mind I'm desperately trying not to spend *any* money for as long as this month can survive without doing so!) ... not sure how much it will be (yet) and I doubt it will be loads but this is how I achieved it
Renewed a policy back in November and took out another (smaller one). All went swimmingly until I got the CC bill (Tesco's, use it to max out on points then pay off each month). Seems that the Co. took the full amount for *both* covers, but for some reason known only to whoever, reimbursed the full amount of the second policy
Called to query yesterday.
End result. Yes, still covered, *their* mistake, will put it all in writing and will discuss a discount with Manager as acknowledgement and apology
Whatever the saving, it will have to be "virtual" because it will simply be put aside ready for next years renewal - but that will also net me a weeny bit of interest over the year too :j
Plus, they phoned me back for the lengthy discussion it involved = another "virtual" saving I supposeLOL

oh :j oh :j oh :j I get this now. So that means that my £5 voucher for wine and my £2 saving on a box of cards at woolies is pin money. PLUS I get a discount card for my local Boots as I am a "healthcare professional" (apparently)...... So PMS so far from 25/12 is £7.89!!!! :j Ooooh now it's finally twigged I'm excited. I am going to aim for £25!!!! So it's all "virtual money" in that it's on paper and then I convert it to real money and put that away from the budget as theoretically I should have it left at the end of the bugeting period. Got it!! So that's even more money saved as well as the 20p piggy and copper and 5p bucket!!!! hurrah - I don't feel quite so penniless now.But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Apologies for going off topic but....
Rage in Eden how did you get your Boots discount card for being a 'healthcare professional'?
Searched on MSE but can't find any info.0 -
at the GPs where I work a woman from the local Boots came in and left a sheet asking if anyone would like a discount card. I signed up (it's the law :snow_grin ) and got one. It's a piece of card not a plastic one and is valid only for one year and in the local Boots. I think it might be to increase sales as there's a huge boots nearby at the Trafford Centre and also one in a retail park on the other side of the road from the Trafford Centre (just in case you forget obviously). It may well be worth enquiring at your local boots to see if they do a scheme. Beware though - you can't use your discount card and then get them to take off the money from your advantage points - i asked and the woman on the till looked horrified - you'd have thought i'd murdered her hamster!! hope this helps...... also if you are in the healthcare sector I take it you are registered on https://www.nhsdiscounts.co.uk.......But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Last month I didn't have a generic pin money challenge but had a selling stuff challenge - saving for wedding rings for the summer.
Only thought I'd get to about £20 but got over £30, sold 1 book on amazon and then the rest was selling excess cosmetics, some writing paper, incredibles radios, a book and a clip frame - think that was it - on the university small ads :T
Ok so this month my target is £40 - listed 12 things on amazon yesterday and will list more stuff on small ads over the next few weeks, including some cards I've cross stitched - double bonus as making more space in the spare room and putting the money to a good use.
Just off to change my sig now :money: - the satisfaction of updating it every time I sell something is great motivation :jInitial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
Overpayments to date - £79.62
Current Mortgage free date - January 20580 -
