I REPEAT FOR ALL THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

Whoever initiated this email (AND IT WAS NOT ME) - can they please get permission and put it on this website so that those who are struggling out there, - can get informed as to what to do.

The problem seems now to be people are afraid - of saying the wrong thing - doing the wrong thing -

Welcome - and this is the worrying thing - that the selective emails are only reaching a certain amount of savers -

This is why this forum is so important -

There are still thousands of savers out there - none-the-wiser.

Will pm you the details and you can pick your own Solicitor!!!

I have just logged into the forum for the first time. I and my family have lost a six figure sum in the PMS and are going through much hardship in silence with many other savers. However I have been encouraged by this forum over the months. I was wondering if you could forward me the email encouraging members to register their protection of rights. It would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, Joy LTS - my public apologies - I blame poor memory on the aging process. I was taking a stab. Sorry.

and secondly, how can unaware savers be informed of what's going on. There must be so many [still] in the dark like our new posters were? This is absolutely shameful.

Why doesn't the administrator, who will have access to names and addresses write to these people, with a list of contacts, who to write to, etc. I suppose it's not part of his job.

The website is all well and good, but so many don't have easy access. It would appear that the administator is happy to keep every thing under wraps. The ministers should look after their congregations and have this info available and to hand. Somebody has to take action and help all these people who don't know what's going on.

I am not 'a christian' in the religious sense, but I feel like standing outside our local preb church and handing out fact sheets.

I know exactly where you are coming from on all this as so much of the information re the PMS is, for one reason or another, shared in a very clandestine manner. There's a lot of hurting people out there who dont know where to turn for help!

but they do know they are not going to get any help from PCI
JonGroovy, sometimes I think that there is only one station on your radio. You can't tar every PCI Minister with the one brush or blame every Minister for the faults and failings of a minority. There are many Godly Ministers within PCI who care deeply about the plight of those with money in the PMS and are doing all they can on a personal level to help those they come in contact with. I realise that people do feel very let down by the hierarchy of the PCI and in many instances people have also been treated unsympathetically by their own minister and church leaders but please don't wash out the baby with the bath-water.

It seems that this was widely circulated - some people may have had doubts about it but it seems it had a valid point. It has to do with insurance and the ability to claim against PMS insurance for any shortfall in money eventually repaid - people were being asked to "register" for that so that they would have a claim on the insurance. It seems that the amount of Insurance cover wouldn't come near what is required here anyway so there's little point in "registering". However, that doesn't take away from the importance of this issue - I had sent e-mails to the Administrator about it but have received no reply which is surprising. Nor, in his response on PMS website is insurance mentioned although it is part of the original question raised.
As an investor (not insubstantial and with retirement looming) I have tried to approach all of this with calm faith, although it's hard. When the trials of life come along faith is NEVER easy and don't allow anyone to tell you that it is - I'm not being sanctimonious when I say that God is in control of all of this as He is of the rest of the affairs of the world. The financial collapse has been caused by the mistakes and greed of men - but, somehow, God has it in His hand. I know to some of you that could sound sanctimous and even hurtful - it isn't meant to be either, so please don't take it as such!! Also can I say that many of our Ministers have worked tirelessly for their Congregations in this but are working with only limited information. Also, I feel that this forum has been helpful in that it allows people to glean information and "sound off" in a way that nothing else does: however, we should be sure to take careful advice about all that we see here and especially in relation to this next vote. Send the Administator a wee e-mail and ask when it will be taking place. Take care everyone.

My elderly widowed mum has money in the PMS.Since November I've been on a mission to keep up to date and find out any scrap of info which might be of help.I'm not a church goer and have no interest in politics, so I've no worries/fears/nerves about contacting ANYONE for information, mainly because I have no idea how important/influential or knowledgeable they are.
Because of this forum, I now have a bunch of 'virtual' friends with whom I happily exchange any information that might be of importance.

Out of the blue 2 weeks ago I received some emails from a PMS investor I know from the 'real world' ....the emails contained information about a lobbying group of which I'd never previously heard.(there was an article about them recently in the Newsletter) I contacted them immediately and was then able to be kept up to date with details of who to lobby and what to include in the letters etc.....I even posted a few things on the forum on behalf of the group with their approval.
On Friday I received an anxious phone call from one of my 'virtual' friends asking for my thoughts on the information which was on the forum about solicitors.I logged on to the MSE site to find details had been published about a solicitor and insurance cover etc...which all seemed quite urgent.
The information suggested that the directors had insurance cover which was due to expire on 30th April 2009.Investors were advised to contact their own solicitor before this date in order to 'register their interest'.
Contact details of a solicitor in BELFAST who couldn't take on any new clients, and didn't want to be contacted by the public, were also given but I later heard that the solicitor had withdrawn an offer to furnish other solicitors with an 'information pack',as previously had been suggested-I'm assuming that this may have been a reaction to the volume of calls they received from the public, but this is purely my own observation.

I subsequently made enquires with a member of the lobby group and was informed that the information had just been obtained mid Friday morning from the said Belfast Solicitor and that the lobby group felt it prudent that savers should be informed due to the importance placed on 30 April 2009 by the Solicitor. The lobby group were not previously aware of this information and this resulted in an urgent email being forwarded to Clerks of Presbyteries and members of the lobby group.

Late on Monday evening I received details of another crowd of solicitors who for a fee of £100 would be ''Willing to represent members of the PMS who wish to register an interest of protection for PMS savings''
Yesterday evening I spoke to someone from the above solicitors who said they had over 200 names already and would be sending a letter on Wednesday 29th -today - to the administrator (I think !?!) This firm of Solictors are also working on the premiss of 30 April 2009

It appears that the main reason for registering an interest is a way of safeguarding savers should there be a shortfall in savings via the Administrator or if the Government fail to intervene and safeguard savings in full. You are merely protectiing yourself and opening up another avenue of reddress should you require to do so in due course. However, it is entirely a matter for each individual saver.
I did not know what to do with this information because I didn't want to give people false hope or be responsible for lining the pockets of the solicitors, and I received it too late in the day.

At the moment I certainly feel that people do not know how to, share their information.
I feel the administrator should be keeping us all up to date with the information. I thought that was his job - to look after OUR interests. If a creditors committee had been formed at least people would have had a point of reference and would have received information.
My only suggestion is to contact your own solicitor - now- for advice OR even check your home insurance policy to see if it includes a free a legal advice help line and get in touch with them for advice.
If you want to PM me I'll give you the name of the solicitors I spoke to yesterday...

    Hope this info helps someone...
