Let's get busy - write, e-mail, speak to people!! Write to your Kirk Session, your Presbytery!! Write to political leaders - let everyone know of your concerns!!
Don't just leave it to some one else - make sure that info e-mailed out to Presbytery Clerks actually reaches the people who need it most. Ask about it - a question to your Rep. Elder or Minister like "I understand information was e-mailed to the Presbtyery Clerk a couple of weeks ago - can you tell me anything about it?" will help.

All of this letter writing is extremely important - but through this website we are only able to target a few PMS savers - those who log on and view.

We need to know all of the names and congregations who have savings with the PMS -

This is a big task -

A suggestion at this stage is if we can ask each Clerk of Presbytery to find out the names, addresses and emails of the PMS savers and also the congregations within their Presbyteries who have money in the PMS -

The information could be collected, collated and we can then forward them information and the names of who they should be letter writing to - remember there are many PMS savers who rely on the Newsletter to get their information and are still left out in the cold with little info.

It will be quite interesting to hear your thoughts on this - also it will be quite interesting to see if the Clerks of Presbytery are willing to aid us in our search.

Hopefully they will - whether they have savings in PMS or not!

All that is really needed is for every Presbytery Clerk to circulate to every Congregation in their Presbytery the material received by e-mail last week and that the Presbyteries make it clear that they want this to be available to people. It is worth writing to the Moderator/Clerk of the local Presbytery asking about this material - the contacts listed are fairly similar to the ones listed in a helpful earlier post today, but, as has also been said, not everyone affected sees this forum. I know many people feel very badly let down by PCI - there must be some moral implication in every resolution passed by the General Assembly and perhaps that has to be acknowledged openly. People started the run on the PMS - there may also be some issues about the PMS itself. However, we need to take steps to get out of this and recover as much money as possible for people - for that to happen we need local action. I think it would be very bad for PCI to ignore an initiative from a few people who have worked hard thus far - so let's see what we can do. Name & address of Moderator/Clerk can be obtained from your Rep. Elder. Would doubt if a list of PMS investors names & addresses would be available

Whilst I welcome your words of encouragement, let us be in no doubt that recovering “as much money as possible” for people is not a good enough objective.
PMS savers are entitled to and deserve to have every penny returned to them.
This is a freakily similar remark to that made by Mark Orr on 15th February that
“I hope that those people will receive a substantial amount of their savings back in due course” as if it has absolutely nothing to do with him and his fellow directors.

On 18th Jan on Sunday Sequence John Dunlop said that “you could have some smart lawyers out there who decide that if you are going to be associated with and it is deemed to be that you are accepting responsibility for-not only could the General Assembly be sued but every Presbyterian in Ireland could be sued”

Well the smart lawyers are out there, at work as we speak and it would be in the best interests of PCI to fully endorse this campaign as they fully endorsed the PMS for years, or their £43M general investment piggy bank could be just a distant memory.

    Also

I’m afraid an open acknowledgement of the endorsements made at general assembly is now not good enough. It may have been 5 months ago.

But the investigations which PMS savers have had to go through to uncover decades of encouragement and endorsement by PCI for their members to save with PMS; whilst PCI busily did their best to hide and remove the links has only made the situation worse.

Sorry if what I said on my last post has hurt people - I recognise that there are an awful lot of hurting people out there and I have spoken to many of them myself. I also recognise that the present uncertainity is causing real difficulty and worry for many people: also, while I still think that there is a moral responsibility on PCI here, I acknowledge the feeling that an open recognition of this now would come as "too little, too late". Strongly feel that PCI needs to get behind this present campaign but unless we "raise the roof" through our local Presbyteries this won't happen. Place make sure you obtain a copy of the letter e-mailed to Presbytery Clerks - read it carefully as it contains helpful information.

    Here goes:

Its time they all got letters and ensure that they speak out to the appropriate authorities at the General Assembly.

Please would you or someone else who has a copy of the letter emailed to Presbytery Clerks, post the text here for the benefit of the number of "expat" posters on this thread.

They are working on behalf of their parents, and maybe have no access to a Presbytery Clerk.

    Thanks
