unsuccessful haggling..

Still have the money, and will wait 6 months until they are desperate, then go into Currys, do a deal with the same salesman, and just before paying remind him of his point blank refusal when I asked last time and go to a different retailer......just so I can see the look on his face then.
I imagine his expression will be fairly blank since he won't remember and wonder why you waited 6 months to buy a vacuum cleaner.
I got a fiver off a monitor in the clearance section of local PCworld, just carried on talking until the manager rolled his eyes, said 'go on then' and walked away shaking his head..0 -

I'll wait 6 months as I already have a working vacuum cleaner. The only reason to get a new one was because the wife likes them. He will remember as I will remind him!0 -
The shops is still full but at least at the store I work in (PC World) sales compared to last year are down (in actual £ value) every single day.Recession? What recession? I've never seen the shops so crammed full of people spending money! And there was me hoping I'd manage a shopping trip to the city centre last saturday without having to use my elbows to get from shop to shop!
I can guarantee you that if you buy JUST A PC (and a monitor or a laptop) you will get nothing - This usually !!!!es of the "haggling" customers no end...PCWorld have given me, and two people I know, discounts on PCs and/or added extra bits free in the past...Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
Your moning because they didn't give money off...............riiiiiiiiight0

I bought a PC in PCworld a couple of years ago and they gave me 5% off because I knew the salesman:T . I did ask a friend who builds computers for recommendations or if he would build me one and he said the one in PCworld was cheaper than he could build and he had bought one for his sister the day before. So building not always cheaper. I posted my buy on here and someone tried to say they could build it cheaper, but they couldn't, could only match.
I was buying a FF recently and it was £485 in Curry's. Didn't even bother talking to saleperson as I was just on a fact finding mission to see which one I wanted. Came home and found it online at Curry's and Dixons much cheaper. I had a £10 off voucher for Curry's on line but I needed them to price match Dixons to be £10 cheaper overall - taking account of delivery. Rang the online Curry's but no pricematch so ordered from Dixons and it was delivered from Curry's. I paid £390 including delivery!

Hmm, you're probably right.
We bought a printer as well but then we ended up getting the printer free. So I guess we still paid full price for the actual PC.
My sil got quite a lot knocked off a package but that included a printer too. They managed to get various bits and pieces chucked in free as well. They were there for a while though! Much longer than I'd spend haggling!
We've always gone knowing what we want tbh and having researched it and worked out the cheapest place to buy it.
The one we have now was from Dixons as they had £20 off if you bought the monitor and PC separately (but not if you bought them as a package ) and then I got a discount voucher from hotukdeals which knocked another £20 off. Plus it was free delivery. So it worked out £40 cheaper than the exact same PC and monitor in PCWorld.0 -
Probably? I don't mean to be rude but I see at least one customer a day who wants to haggle, and the manager always has the same response - if giving £10 off will go from a flat to a sale with Norton/Office/PC Performance then ok, but if it's a flat laptop, or a laptop with just Norton/Office then no.Hmm, you're probably right.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I was in Tesco earlier. I told them that I shop there every week and spend bucket-fulls and therefore expect them to give me a discount of at least 10%.
They told me where to go. Can I complain?0 -

Yep, there's no harm in asking for a discount at any time, but at the end of the day, the company that lay down the rules for the salespeople to follow are trying to solve their problems, not our problems, and the problem they are trying to solve might not be helped by us giving a discount. Ask, be prepared to walk away if you don't get a price you like, but don't take things for granted is what I say.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
