Mini_money_savers Big Adventure

Well, where to start?

Firstly I’ll explain a little about myself and why I’m doing this Diary!
I’m afraid to say I’m an extremely long time lurker and very recently a first time poster (this diary is probably my 3rd post…so please be gentle with me!) After avidly reading other peoples posts (in particular “Mooloos struggles…”) and seeing how great the advice is on here and how big a support network it is for so many people I’ve decided to start my own diary thread!

I’m Mini_money_saver, 20 years old, currently live at home with my parents in Essex, have been with OH (who is 26) for just over a year and….I am a MSE addict :T

At the end of the year (end of December beginning of January) my OH and I will be moving in together, which we are very excited about! The main reason behind this blog/ diary is to help keep me sane during this time.
I am a very happy, upbeat person; I love my job and I have a wonderful OH and family but quite often I have a tendency to be suffer with periods of anxiety and feeling low. My main worry is that it’s going to be a big change for me going from living at home to living with OH. I know that moving is stressful for everyone but I have a habit of building myself up for everything being perfect and then when one tiny thing goes wrong it completely throws me off. OH is very understanding about my feelings and knows that I get like this but still I feel that keeping a diary/blog of this time will really help me to get over these worries!

All in all I think the best way to sum this up is….
I’m writing this blog to:
1. Give all who choose to follow this blog an insight into my life at a time that I would say is the start of my “adult life” (sounds silly but hopefully you know what I mean!)
2. Vent any worries or anxieties I have in the hope of maybe getting advice/support
3. More than likely give everyone a laugh as I muddle through every day life! :rotfl:

If your interested in following me in my blog/diary I’ll keep this as up to date as possible for you and let you know how I’m getting on!
If your not, thanks for reading this post and I’m sure I’ll bump into you on some other threads on here!!

So…who’s up for joining me on my “Big, Grown-up adventure”? Lol

Thanks,
Mini

P.S I’ll put some more info about OH and I and new living situation in my next post
I'll admit that I am a massive spreadsheet geek:rotfl:

We met last October through Facebook, we had both joined a group for people who live in our area and OH had started a conversation with me as i was online at the same time that he was. Long story short, we found out we lived 3 houses apart. Talked online most days after that and he finally knocked on the door and said hello one Saturday morning (he had just got back from a friends house in London, was hungover and unshaven lol). And the rest is history, we spent all weekend together and decided we were going to live together within 3 weeks of meeting :rotfl:

I bought the first bits for my "bottom drawer" at the end of October and opened our joint account in Novemeber.

Now the story about our house,
We were looking at moving into a 2 bedroom flat in a new development that had just been built in the town centre around July of this year.
The week or so after me and OH met my parents had just completed on a new house (their plan was to do up new house how they wanted, move into it and rent our current house!)

My parents sat us down one evening and offered for us to rent the house off of them for the same amount we would have been paying on a 2 bed flat. Needless to say it didnt take long to think about.

So we are due to move in and they are due to move out at the end of December beginning of January :j

And thats pretty much got you all up to date!!

Been over to Mum and Dads new house today to see how things are progressing, the plasterer is in next week so hopefully rooms will begin to take shape! Still on target for Dec/Jan, getting quite excited now :D

Have been playing around with my spreadsheets this afternoon to see if we are on target money wise and everything is looking good so far. I may have gone a bit overoard with spreadsheets and organising...i have one for monthly expenditure, furniture costs, savings, xmas, car...and their colour coded! :o I may be a bit of a spreadsheetaholic but they have managed to keep my quite relaxed about knowing where our money is going, if they will serve their pupose properly once we are moved in is a different matter, but im optimistic Lol

OH's dad called today to say that he has got a brand new Ikea bed for us, (somewhere he was working for decided they didnt want it!) so thats one more thing off of the furniture list!!:rotfl:

Also decided that i should probably have a tidy up this afternoon so i started by wrapping up my xmas pressies, didnt really make the room any tidier but i do have a nice bright pile of packages in the corner now and im feeling a bit more Christmassy everyday!

Off to bed for an early night,
    Night Night!!

    Good luck with everything.

I felt I had to reply as the 3 weeks to decide to move in reminded me of OH & myself.... we met May bank holiday, 2 weekends later he came to visit, he came again the following weekend & the weekend after that he moved in! (it was due to circumstances, we met in a town neither of us usually go to & he was due to start work in my town 100 miles away 4 weeks later!)...it is now 13 years & 2 children later & we are still as happy as the day we met!!!

    Anyway - GOOD LUCK
    Nicky

OH has just told me that he had a call saying our new car wont be delivered for at least another 2 weeks
We were originally told it would be here by next week at the latest, it has been built and is on a boat on the way over to the UK BUT they have laid off a lot of delivery drivers at SEAT so when it gets to this country from Spain its going to be sitting around in a yard for about a week before they do anything with it!
    I dont like waiting :-(
So glad i've let him do all the sorting out with them otherwise i'd have lost it by now!

    Rant over!

just wanted to say good luck with moving in together. x
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!

    Thanks Dora!

After my rant yesterday i thought i should put something a bit happier lol
I'm a bit sad and love getting post (yes even bills!) so my bad day yesterday was brightened up when i got home and found that a little package had arrived for me! I'd signed up to a online research panel and had been sent through two facial scrubs to try...the best bit...they were quite big tubes (have to use one one week and the other the week after) the sort of size that you'd pay £3 in the shops for and i only have to use them twice a week for a week each so i'm going to have tons left over :rotfl:
    I love freebies :D

Hope everyone has a good day!
