WMA provides better quality per bit than MP3 (newer coder), but takes more decoding, so eats batteries more quickly. You really won't get a significant benefit from using such high bit rates.
My question is: how do these devices know which order to play the tracks? I only have experience of an older pen-type player which plays in the order which you load it with the files. It has two levels of selection: folder and file. Do these have an additional level for internal or external memory? Do they allow an arbitrary depth of folders?
they're stored in folders, however you put them on. the max depth of folders is 13 according to the manual. i'm not sure how the extra sd card works with it yet, havent tried.0 -

Got the other half one today for £24.99,at Kwik Save what a bargain. Tried a spare 512Mb sd card in it and all works fine.
Basically your computer picks up two new locations when you plug it in. On my PC its M and N.
M is the player and N is the card. Put files on both M & N locations and set it to shuffle all tracks and it works just great. The headphones are rubbish, but then what do you expect for £25.
I didn't bother with the cd, as XP drag and drop works ok. Or use Explore. :snow_laug0 -
Thanks tr3mor. At least it will be a bit easier to index large amounts of music than if you just have two levels to play with.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Have you tried Somerfield's storefinder to locate your nearest stores? http://www.somerfield.co.uk/site/stores/storefinder.asp
All I can suggest is that you ring round some of the London stores (using the storefinder) and get them to reserve some for you if they have any left.Wins 2007 :Boots £125, XBOX 360 & 3 games 2008:5 David Gray CDs £10 DVD voucher 2 Crossed Bones DVD & chocolate Torch. I am really impressed with my two players... they are perfect for the kids... although currently I can hear the not so dulcet tones of my partner singer downstairs... "I'm spinning around, move outta my way...." :j
By the way....fancy lots and lots of free mp3's?
No this isn't a link to them before any one moans... but it is a means to an end... check it out.... it's a great little application and very easy to use!!
